Building Resilience with the Inner Critic

Building Resilience with the Inner Critic

The Inner Critic is a judgmental inner voice that has us talking to ourselves in ways we would never talk to others. For women stuck down The People Pleasing Rabbit Hole, the Inner Critic points out our inadequacies, impacting self-esteem and self-worth. It creates a feeling of shame. It shows up in the form of

·       Comparison

·       Personalization

·       Should statements

·       Labeling or generalizing

In this episode, we explore the evolutionary purpose of having an inner voice that makes us experience shame. Why its development was important to our survival within the family and the community. With this understanding, we discuss possible shifts in perspectives that can allow us to work with the Inner Critic to build our resilience muscles.
