Erika Lynne is a leading international expert in Human Sex Trafficking and Associate Director and Founder of Traffick Shadow. Her stories show how prevalent trafficking is around the world, the level of danger involved, and how sophisticated traffickers have become.

After being exposed to the reality of human sex trafficking for years, Erika understands this topic at a deeper level than most. She’s practical about the current, abhorrent situation and driven to provide education to prevent future trafficking

About the Guest:

Erika Lynne Burney MBA MPH. I went to the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor, and received my B.S. in Psychology and Sociology. I went to Nova Southeastern University- Ft. Lauderdale and received a Masters in Business and a Masters of Public Health. I began conducting research in human trafficking in 2010. My research exposed the need for education about human sex trafficking as a means to derail, deter and destroy this global epidemic. I have done extensive work in human sex trafficking, both nationally and internationally. Most recently, I was in Cambodia working for AFESIP, Somaly Mam's (a global human trafficking icon) foundation. Other locations I have worked are Thailand, Vietnam and Australia. In October 2019 I started a 501c3 organization called "Traffick Shadow" in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The focus of the organization is to offer education and awareness of the insidious truth behind human sex trafficking. I offer programs, training, and workshops that are audience specific. For example, law enforcement training is different from training for health professionals. This is due to the nature of contact and the capacity of action that they have with potential victims, traffickers, current victims, and survivors. These are available at social, community, and government levels. Schools, service organizations, healthcare groups, and law enforcement agencies are some places this sort of information can make a proactive change.
