Melissa Deally:

Welcome back to another edition of health hack, as I round out the week, talking about prebiotics, probiotics, and post biotics and today's episode is all about post biotics, which people have been asking about more and more lately wondering if that's something they need to be taking in order to support their gut health.

Melissa Deally:

And first of all, let me just explain what post biotics are. And it sounds kind of gross. However, our body is really amazing and everything it does is it is doing to support us. So post biotics are actually the waste products of the organisms eating the prebiotics, in other words, the probiotics and they do have their own benefit for us as well. They help with inflammatory issues, auto immune and overall vascular issues. And so we do need post biotics. However, they are also very easy to get through food. And given that, as I said earlier, supplementation is used to enhance what we're not getting through our food. This isn't an area where I would have you spending money on supplementation, I would rather see you get it through food, and spend money on supplements that are going to have a more benefit to like ensuring you're getting your magnesium every day, your omegas every day your vitamin C. As well as your vitamin D, those are kind of the four main supplements that I love people to be taking everyday because most of our North American population is deficient because we don't get those enough through our food or through the sun. And if you're using any of the aqualife products that I love, the daily nutritional shake, the fruit and daily fruit and vegetable blend is ensuring that your body's getting all of it needs in terms of the vitamins and minerals and all of your greens etc. Those things are going to give you a really well rounded, healthy base to give your body what it needs to function at the optimal level that you want it to function at. And then you can get your post biotics from foods such as nuts and seeds, beans, lagoons, peas, leafy greens, folic acid and humic acid which are both very good detoxifiers as well, in addition to apple cider, vinegar, and more. So there's a lot of way to get it through foods, so I wouldn't spend your money on it. It's something that your body is naturally creating, especially when you are eating a healthy diet and you're making sure that you are getting your probiotics, and that your gut is in good health. And that's really the most important thing is your gut and good health or are you struggling with symptoms of heartburn and constipation, diarrhea, gas, bloating, etc, because none of those are to be ignored. They don't just heal themselves on their own. You need to be addressing them. And once you address them and we rebalance your gut, then you can get to a place of optimal health as well. When your gut is out of balance, you can get to optimal health. Your gut is absolutely a critical baseline of where your health is at. And if it's unhappy, then there's going to be other down the road issues that start coming up because the gut is unhappy when we instead run lab tests so that we can assess the health of your gut, assess your bacterial overgrowth, yeast overgrowth, maybe there's mold, maybe there's fungus, whatever the imbalances are, there could be h pylori, there could be parasites. Once we remove what we don't want, then we can start putting in what we do want. With the probiotics. You get your prebiotics through food or post biotics through food and you get to a place of optimal health. That's what I want for you.
