Tammy Gross:

Hi, I'm Tammy Gross, the scriptpreneur. Welcome to Reel life stories where difference makers come to share their Hollywood worthy transformation stories. I love interviewing people who faced a mountain overcome it the hard way, and figured out a solution to help the rest of us conquer that same mountain. Because when we share our stories, we change lives.

Tammy Gross:

Okay, so I'm back with Eugene Mandel Koren, who's got this amazing story we've already you know, we've already gone back into the 60s and 70s. And talking about having, you know, being not quite homeless, but you know, taking this, this crazy life into the crazy world of Hollywood, that how can you live in Hollywood and not have something big in Hollywood happen to you, right? It's just not even possible, I don't think. And here you are you, you've got your father, who's been who's been an inspiration to you telling you stories as you're growing up about about how he was in the film industry, when it was still becoming an industry. I mean, so many fascinating things going on in your life that are inspiring you. And I know that there's even more to the story, because we can't tell a whole person's story in 15 minutes. But we've kind of come closer to where we're at at the present, we're almost up to there. And certain things that have happened in your past have set you up for doing something so amazing now, and I was just bringing up about how in your background, you have that lead the way poster, and I know you've got another background, you can maybe show us in a minute, you don't have to right now that that will tell us even more about what's going on with what you're doing now. But if you could bring us up to speed now, from where we left off to what you're doing now, and and what this new genre is. I mean, I hopefully people are like, wanting to know what this is. I know, the first time I ever heard this, I'm like, What's the new genre? What's the vision? And you kind of already said it, and you've kind of already hinted to it with solutions. But now let's let's let's, let's just start there. And I'll let you kind of tell the rest of that story from there.

Eugene Mandelcorn:

Okay, well, I started as a screenwriter in the industry, but for over 50 years, I have not sold or optioned a screenplay. And I realized, because people had told me, they didn't know what genre I was writing in. And I realized, I'm writing in a new genre that doesn't exist, and looked over all the films, the history of film in 100 years of over 100 years of film. Nobody had made a film like this before, I realized that the intention of film is mainly to entertain, of course, you have to do that. But also, it's an escape from reality. Okay, it makes you forget about your problems. And I was writing films that tried to show solutions to the problems that we face every day. No one was doing that. So I thought, wow, if nobody else is doing it, I've already produced a number of films. Why don't I produce the first solution film in the history of the cinema. And so the poster behind me as the film that we produce, called lead the way and our whole objective is to lead the way for other filmmakers. Yes, much more talent and much more resources than ourselves, to make films in this new genre. And to introduce a solution fell very quickly. We had over we had 12 solutions in the original script of the film, because the director looked at and he said, if you try to put these 12 solutions into one film, it's going to be three, a three and a half hour epic. You can't. Okay, three sets, you're gonna have to cut it in half. So I cut the screenplay in half. Okay. So we had much less solutions. But it is not that long. It's only an hour and 40 minutes. But if you want to see what is solution film, get some idea of what it is. I asked people all the time. What is that guy doing behind me? What is he wearing? He's the main character in the film. His name is Patrick Lee. Okay, right. Right. He is legally blind and autistic. The perfect candidate for President of the United States. But what is he wearing? And 99.9% of the people say he is wearing VR virtual reality glasses.

Tammy Gross:

Exactly. Yeah, yeah. Because that sounds like to us. And he's

Eugene Mandelcorn:

now announcing his run for presidency of the United States. That's what he's using the megaphone for. Okay. But most of the people are avoiding him. They think, and he is on a street corner. So they think he's like a street corner preacher. And they think he's wearing these glasses. He's in some other world. Actually, what he's wearing those goggles he's wearing is a new invention called new eyes. And it allows the legally blind to see, sometimes for the first time in their life. They see their spouse, they see their children, and it's such an emotional. Yeah. So we introduced a solution at the very beginning of the film, when he announces his run for the presidency. And we do it again and again, in the film, we're announcing, we're showing you solutions, but they're woven into the fabric of the film, they become part of the film, and that, from what

Tammy Gross:

I understand it, from what I understand, and I haven't seen it yet, and but what I know of it, you've actually woven it into the fabric of the set. I mean, just like the setting of where they're at. I don't know how much you want to tell without totally giving things away. But I gotta say that the more I heard, the more it all started to make sense to me that there's like rules. And though there you go, there you go. And there's, there's, there's a gaming side to everything as well. So tell us more about that.

Eugene Mandelcorn:

Okay, he lives in this kind of other world himself. Although glasses allow him to see his home is a three story, live and work condom. But it's more like most people, their home is their castle, they say My home is My castle. His home is his nation. And it's over ruined. It is a nature and within a nation. And what it has its own national anthem. It has its its own currency. And this currency is it's a digital currency, called the over ruin the coin. Okay. And we decided, this is another thing that we decided since most independent films advertise their films the same as the big studio films, and the many majors. They have to do it a trailer, and they have to try to get it out there. So people see it. But all this time, all the good time and all the good access is already taken by the studios in the mini major, who's going to see their commercial for their film, their trailer for their low budget feature, right, practically no, but that's why it's so hard to break into the big time, right? Yep, we invented a new advertisement for my low budget films, in low budget independent films. And we call it the brisk with verism It is a day that is streamed around the world on the internet that introduces you to the characters in the movie, and some of the plot of the movie. So you get involved it's an immersive game where you play and it's from your point of view, and you can enter whatever rooms you choose in the game and each room is a different experience. And in each room you can earn it is a play to earn game where you can actually earn the pulling see behind me the digital currency the ogre Maroondah coin

Tammy Gross:

it's a very real it's a very real like it's a very real, you know of a technology of what Bitcoin is and everything but it's a very real thing. That in the same way that Bitcoin is real, where there are some people who don't look the same and yeah, yeah, go ahead in the

Eugene Mandelcorn:

fetcher, Ogle, open ruining the coin will eclipse Bitcoin? Do it starting as a utility coin, when Bitcoin started, it was speculative. You couldn't buy anything with it. And the first person who tried to buy something was they bought two pizzas. Okay? But now, if they had not spent that $10 worth of pizza, they will, they would, they would now be worth $240 million, or something equivalent to that if they hadn't spent, because it went up that much. But here's the thing with this coin, you can not only play if you earn enough, you can play the game again. But you also can watch movies made by and this was the third thing we got in, we started our own studio with an international studio without borders or walls. So we don't have our overhead of buildings, and back lots and parking structures and all you know, all this expense, you know, we don't have any place in the world, because we have talent. Our talent is our collateral, not our buildings, our talent, we have talent from all over the world, so we can shoot anyplace in the world. So that's it, we don't have to have. We don't have to have unions. We don't have to have a readers. We don't have to have a world. You don't have to have managers and agents and unions. The whole deal. We skip the middleman and all the gatekeepers.

Tammy Gross:

Yep. So it's like a dream. It's like a dream for for for filmmakers and screenwriters, and consumers and, and gamers. I mean, it's it's really you are so you're thinking so cutting edge, and you're really setting up a whole new future for how things are going to be working within the film and entertainment business because it isn't just film. Yes. Yeah.

Eugene Mandelcorn:

Gretzky, remember you famous hockey player? wretzky.

Tammy Gross:

Yeah, don't Yeah, Wayne Gretzky,

Eugene Mandelcorn:

don't go where the puck is go to where the puck will be.

Tammy Gross:

We're going to be, right. We're Exactly, yeah, I forgot that you said that. But that is so true. And that that is that that is so perfect. It's actually kind of a good visual with having the coin there, everything

Eugene Mandelcorn:

is gonna be okay, because we're getting into NF T's, our company. Our company is going to be a Dao, which is a decentralized, autonomous organization, which has no borders, like we say, you know, no walls. So this is all the construct of the future.

Tammy Gross:

I bet there are a lot of people who are watching this that are really excited. And I'm sure that there are also some people because it took me a couple times I had to hear about this in a few different ways. And there are probably some people going like,

Eugene Mandelcorn:

well, people know, but I don't get it. Okay, people know the genre for because a lot of young filmmakers or new filmmakers start on and hold out and more one because that doesn't need stars. Also, because it's it can be done on a miniscule budget on a very small budget. Yeah, yeah. The same thing will be for the solution film. Exactly. Yeah. You don't need stars, we have no stars and lead the way we don't need. We don't need a big budget. Okay. Okay. It's easy to do. And the important most important thing, and that's the thing, we set up a studio, like Blum house specializes in low budget for we actually live in low budget solution films, and we will never run out of material.

Tammy Gross:

Because yeah, they always

Eugene Mandelcorn:

will never run out of problems, though. If be more problems to stop, so we'll never run out of storage.

Tammy Gross:

That is so cool. Well, what I want to do is let people kind of absorb all of this. I mean, this is this is mind blowing stuff. I think it really is it was to me the first time I I really started hearing about it, and and and it's just, it's just too cool. It's just too cool. And so what I'm going to do is I'm going to make sure that in the show notes is an updated way to get ahold of you but, but I'll tell you right now, I'll tell you out loud it's lead the way movie.com And it spelled like you saw it on the other thing, l e. D, the way movie, that calm. And then for more information on what's going on with the studio and everything it's made to order movies.com Did I get that? Right? I want to make sure we put that in the show notes right?

Eugene Mandelcorn:

To order movies.com and my email is first features@gmail.com m a i l.com. And that's my production company, which is only one production company in our studio. Okay, we have a different production company.

Tammy Gross:

It's a real studio in a virtual sort of way with no walls. I mean, it's it's it's a new thing. So I really want people to be able to take the time though to it and and learn a little bit more about it. There we go. There we got lead the way back American way.

Eugene Mandelcorn:

And I can show you we have other posters all. So this is more the age style poster. Okay, right. Right. So post action and other stuff in there. Yeah, yeah. And there's, there's the Canadair Yes. Yeah. And then we have more coins, because every movie will have its own risk was resum just like its own trailer. And each movie will have its own coin. Okay,

Tammy Gross:

exactly. Oh, yeah,

Eugene Mandelcorn:

we've got all this. Okay.

Tammy Gross:

People have got to just flock to these to these websites, learn more about it, get into your jeans world. I'm getting into your jeans world. And, and it's a mind blowing place. Let me tell you. It's a really cool thing. And I'm really so glad that you were able to tell some of the story. I heard some things that I hadn't heard before, too. So that was really cool. To hear some of that. And so now we have the information there. People can get into your world. And I'm probably gonna, you know, have you come back at some point? I know, there's even more to your story.

Unknown:

More about NF T's I really didn't get into that in detail. Okay. So when Dows which you know, are decentralized, autonomous organizations, which will take over eventually the LLC, all in the film industry. Yeah, most of the companies are lol fees when you make a film, but in the future, it will be doubts. Yeah,

Tammy Gross:

yeah. And that's another interesting thing that I've been learning while I've been in your world. And I know that you still got one of the original guys from when that that group that you had formed when you went to Ken and everything, and that you're still you're still talking with him. I've had the pleasure of meeting him virtually. And and so there's still there's still stuff that you guys are doing that you're constantly honing and bringing and and and making it so cutting edge

Unknown:

still exists? Phil does Yes. Right president is residing presently in Vienna, Austria. So it definitely is a worldwide filmmaking organization.

Tammy Gross:

It is it is totally global. And and I can attest to that. I've been there at the meetings. And it's and it's pretty cool. Well, thank you so much, Eugene, this is so cool. We didn't know that we would be going as long as we did. And we'd make it into two parts. And I'm really glad that we were able to do that. And you know, I will be seeing you very soon. And I'm hoping that the listeners are really curious. And they're gonna be hopefully you're not too bombarded at the time that this comes out. But you might get a little bombardment of people that are like, what I want to know more about this. And I hope that is actually what happens, because we want people to get on board. We want people to get on board with this. It's very, very cool. And I appreciate it so much, and I will be seeing you soon.

Unknown:

Okay, thank you very much for having me on your podcast. I really appreciate it.

Tammy Gross:

Totally. My pleasure. See you later.

Eugene Mandelcorn:

Bye.
