As a mom of two little boys who love mud, I have visions, goals, ideas, and thoughts. Sometimes they only lasted for seconds, and the rest of the day I spend cleaning up after my kids.

Over the past 20 years, I spent 15 years in a fast-paced career development and personal development environment. I have completed 26 half marathons, crossed the finish line at Ironman Canada, and became a mom. It has been the most amazing journey with so many lessons. I know for a fact that the moment I made a decision, clarity in all directions appeared.

I am here to help you connect with what lights you up, through 1:1 coaching.

Carrie Lecuyer:

Hello, my friends and welcome. You're listening to soul inspired decisions, a podcast for ordinary moms living extraordinary lives. My intention with this podcast is to teach, motivate and inspire by sharing stories, tools and strategies to help you unlock your greatest fears, annoying habits and old stories and make a move towards the things that have been on your heart. If you have been a little lost, or in a funk, and want to reconnect with your purpose, your passion and feel empowered again, then this is the best place for you to be hanging out. My name is Carrie linkway. And I'm an ordinary mom making extraordinary decisions. This is me putting one foot in front of the other, moving towards my next goal, and hoping to inspire you along the way. Let's get started. Welcome back to soul inspired decisions. Today I have a friend of mine who I've been noticing some very exciting things happening on her Instagram. Her name is Caitlin Emerson. And I just wanted to have her on the podcast because she is a mom of a little boy who's in kindergarten. And she's, I don't want to say been in a funk. But I can tell that she's found something she's passionate and loves. And that's what this podcast is all about. Ordinary, ordinary women, ordinary moms finding ways to be extraordinary in their own lives and do things that light them up. And along our way of motherhood, we sometimes lose ourselves and we're looking for the thing that gives us this new motivation, this new passion, extra income, maybe you've never had income before. So you're looking for that thing that really resonates with you and lights you up. And I think she's found it because she's rocking it and killing it. So I just wanted to have her on and talk about what she's found and what she's doing and how she found it because that's the secret moms and women want to find the secret. So, Caitlin, welcome to Seoul inspired. Have you been on a podcast before?

Kaitlin Emmerson:

No, this is my first

Carrie Lecuyer:

Oh, perfect. It's pretty simple. We just chat. It's it's pretty laid back and chill. So tell me a little about yourself.

Kaitlin Emmerson:

Um, so I am from Southwest Manitoba. I went to college in old Alberta and became a registered vet tech and pretty much right out of school I got laid off.

Carrie Lecuyer:

wasn't meant to be right.

Unknown:

I guess not. So, in southwest October, there is an oilfield. And I had my class three, so I started hauling oil. And eventually I got offered a position as an oilfield operator. And I've been with that for the last nine years. So it's quite different from what I planned on doing the first place. But yeah, I'm, I'm happily married for last 11 years too. Like Carrie said, and I have a five year old and you start caring and I was all about animals. I still am. But I'm, I'm all about helping other people kind of achieve their health and wellness goals I've kind of always been I struggled with my weight, pretty much so I can remember. So I like helping others kind of in that direction. And it's not all about weight. It's about gut health and, and just wellness in general. And yeah, so that's all

Carrie Lecuyer:

sounds amazing. Sounds amazing. So a lot of people can relate the weight loss trying to lose the weight. As we get older, we struggle we have ups and downs. And I remember a few years ago, you were working out like crazy was very motivating even to myself. So now this is a little bit more on the nutrition side.

Unknown:

Yeah, um, I was originally with Beachbody. And yeah, I worked out constantly and I found that even if I ever took a rest day, I kind of shot myself. And it felt like because I didn't, but I'm the type of person that you I can't stop. I need to just keep going forward and forward forward. And it was great. I still love it. But I just don't have the time anymore. And it's so hard with kids and kudos to moms again like I know you are an avid runner, runner and swimmer, but I just, I just can't find the time. And I know that's up for excuse because I used to give that to, to women all the time when I was doing that. And excuse me. Um, so anyways, I was actually right before I got pregnant, I was starting to do more nutrition side and basically came down the cold hard facts that you can't outrun a bad diet. But I lost, I lost 10 pounds right? Before or right at the time I got pregnant. And so I always kind of keep that in back my mind that like, you know, those 10 pounds made a difference, because we were kind of trying for two years there. And, anyways, um, I used to teach classes and so forth. But I eventually got to a state where I, it was too much and, and it was just kind of doing gentle walking through the rest of my pregnancy. And then once my son came along, I tried but like, he's really only do things when they were super little that I found when they were napping, and then nothing was never consistent, and nothing's ever been consistent ever. And, yeah, it's just, I just haven't been able to get back at it. So I kind of, I just kind of focused on well, at least I can get as much nutrition as I can possible. That's, that's, that's the way to go and, and try to get extra steps and if I can, but yeah, that's that's where I went with that. And then recently, I was kind of in a funk. You right? I wasn't I wasn't really doing anything. And I wasn't really trying and all day, every time you try a new workout, you're so, so stiff the next day, and it's hard. And it was just really hard to get into your team. And my husband was kind of working away a little bit. And you know, I do well, when he was away, as soon as he come back, it was just out the window. And yeah, it was like starting over every time you came.

Carrie Lecuyer:

Yeah, that's what I hear a lot from women too is that you know, especially from the oilfield side of work is that you get in such a good routine when the husbands away, and then they come home and you want to spend time with them and eat with them and do other things with them. And then your routine gets shot. And then every time it's like a start and stop cycle the time. So that is so relatable to so many people that yeah, it's real life.

Unknown:

Yeah. So like when their days off are over, and they go back to wherever they are. And then you're like, Oh, I'm starting over again. And then you just go, Oh, I'm too tired. Or I'm to this and there's so much to do, like, oh, no, no more chores. So it's just this cycle is? Yeah, but um, yeah, I found this new product that I was super skeptical about, like super like, oh, yeah, right. Sounds like some magic drink. thing, like didn't know too much about it. And yeah, I saw some testimonials and a few friends results. And I'm like, Wow. Let's try it. So I started trying it and I was just like, first week I lost like a couple inches my waist and I'm like, Ah, okay, this stuff's magical.

Carrie Lecuyer:

It's magical.

Unknown:

It's magical. It's not magic. It is magical. Either way, and I I just kind of started to be more mindful. I started drinking my water, I started feeling more consistent, like racking my water. It's always easy to say, oh, yeah, I got eight classes a day. But like when you actually have like a tracking device. And all I do is I just have my, my water bottle and I move my I got so many hair bands on there. And every time I fill it up, down, so then I'm how I'm right.

Carrie Lecuyer:

Yeah, I've never heard of that. I've heard it a few times before.

Unknown:

And I just felt like Oh, whatever. And I was like, No, this, this is the way to do it. So yeah, I've been using that for the last few months. And it works really good. And so you kind of know where you are. Yeah. And yeah, when you drink that much water though, you become really mindful of everything. Like you're just like, really that hungry or do I really need to eat this or maybe I just drink another sip of water and I'll decide after that. So, but yeah, that's kind of what I do. Started doing and then just kind of consistently been taking the product and a few kind of sideline products with it and been going well, so it's kind of like re composite or free composition of my, my body kind of helps produce fat absorption and reduce that sale kind of converts. Kind of, it just makes you smaller. Yeah, it's more, it's kind of like just get rid of them all huge. Like it just, it's, yeah, it's pretty amazing stuff and, and like I said, it's not a magic potion by any means. But it just, it's just that extra boost that you need to keep going.

Carrie Lecuyer:

So what's so amazing is I mean, we chatted a little bit before I started recording this podcast and it was kind of, you know, just casual conversation, but to wash your face and how you've lit up and just talking about because you're talking and and recognizing your journey since you've started. started this product. Your face has shifted, you're trying to you're trying not to spa because you're smiling so much you're it's like your body and your heart and your soul are so proud of yourself and so proud of who you are becoming and how you perceive yourself and and you said you've had more clarity is all the things are all wrapped up in this and it's just glowing on you. I wish everybody could see this because it's amazing. So this is awesome. So how has your life changed? As a mom? Do you think? What's in the shift?

Unknown:

I know I, I I I struggle with the mom. Like I love being long struggle. And I think it's just my son is so stubborn. And we are so like that maybe we just had so much. I don't know, I've just really built up my confidence since I started doing all this. And it's just, I don't care what anybody thinks anymore.

Carrie Lecuyer:

That's perfect, then you are aligned. That's exactly it. Because when you find the thing you love, nothing else matters. And that's super amazing. I love it. So how is your routine change? What are you? What have you changed up? That's so easy. So before being in funk, to now just having all sorts of motivation? How has it changed?

Unknown:

Um, well, I, I'm kind of a well, I'm a super multitasker to begin with, like, the last year and a half. I was supposed to be just a run partner at work. And I ended up being my run partner got moved and they never replaced it. So I had to become super time management on everything because instead of having one run I had to and and because my son was in daycare, I couldn't. I couldn't do overtime, not that we were allowed anyways, but I had to make sure that I was done at the right time to go pick up my son from daycare. So I'm been super task oriented. You know, time management, it's been in Great. Definitely lately it's it's, I've been trying to do a tick tock every day. So I'm gonna like, especially my days off from trying to, they call it batching where you kind of do your videos on like your day off and then when you do go to do them, they're there. You just have to finish your editing to them. And and then yeah, so I was the last few months. I've been trying to do a tic toc day. Yeah, and trying to do some other ones I they say you should do one to two a day, but two is Yeah, and two is a lot. One is good. The hardest part is finding trends or something you can relate to. I'm I'm type person that I don't like being I need to be authentic. I have to have something that's completely relatable. I can't just fake it. So I have to be Yeah, I just need to be authentic all the time and relatable because I hate being fake. I like that I'm real that real moms can relate to me because I'm not wearing makeup in these videos. I'm not I'm half the time my my hair's a mess or whatever. So I like the fact that other moms can go home. She's like me

Carrie Lecuyer:

Yes. Yes. So I know exactly what you mean. Yes. So yeah, that's amazing. That's really good that you are coming out of your comfort zone a little bit again and doing the thing that you love and being able to when you love something you're be you're able to promote and talk about it. And it's like you have this new vision of who you are and who you want to become and where you want to go with it. So what sort of new things? Are you learning about yourself?

Unknown:

Oh yeah, it's kind of back to the like, I just don't care what anybody thinks anymore. Although I'm still a bit shy. But my coworkers we've been talking about tick tock lately, and I'm like, Don't follow me.

Carrie Lecuyer:

Oh, my gosh, I can relate to that. Yeah.

Unknown:

There are guys anyways, but I'm just it's kind of funny how, like, complete strangers can completely lift each other up? Yeah. Like, I'm with my visit my side gig I'm with a bunch of women. I've never met any of them in person ever. And we just lift each other up so high every day like we can we, we can correct congratulate everybody on like, the simplest things like, Oh, they got their first customer, or they did their first tic tock or they did their first post or whatever. It's just, or they got their first hater. Like, it's so littlest things that you'd be like, Oh, I don't know. Most people, other. Other companies would just be like, oh, let's not even talk about it. But like it, we're just like, celebrate everything every year. Because like when we all come together with a common goal, if we can just lift each other up so high and like, yeah, it's just awesome doing that stuff. So

Carrie Lecuyer:

that's a key point is coming together with the common goal, because that is, you know, whether it is working out with Beachbody, you know, that was your group at that point in time, it served a purpose and with nutrition now, it serves a purpose and you're with a new group of people and, and I know that other women have talked about the thing that they're doing and how they find new groups who they never thought they would relate to and hang out with, but yet they're there. And it's just the things you have in common and serve you at that point in your life. Whether that will be 10 years from now, we don't know. But right now, it serves your purpose and lighting you up. So you gotta go for it.

Unknown:

Yeah, exactly. So I know like, in the beginning, I was just like, Oh, I'm never doing tick tock like, I don't even like tick tock. And now I'm just like, all about tick tock like,

Carrie Lecuyer:

we will have to teach me because I mean, I know that that's something that I should do. And I'm like, Oh, I don't even like being on social media. How can I do a tick tock, but it is the next thing in creating content. And hi, no, I got to step out of my box.

Unknown:

Yeah, and like, last month, I was pushing and pushing more for being present in like my facebook stories. So I started doing, I was doing like, daily things on my stories. And I kind of brought it down a little bit to maybe a couple times a week just, it's more about how much time do I have in the morning? Because if my husband or son is around, they make fun of me. So I'm just like, Okay, I'll do this later.

Carrie Lecuyer:

Oh, yes. I know what you mean. Yes. They're always there.

Unknown:

They're always there. And my son not too bad. Except don't think I'm talking to him. And then he'll, like, start talking back. And I'd be like, no. Yeah, or my husband will make funny faces and just like, crack up or like, yeah, you can totally tell when he's there. Because he lives I've done you can just see me. I'm like, Oh, he saw me.

Carrie Lecuyer:

I know. I know what you mean. Yes. I was trying to do a live once when we are driving home on a road trip. And he's like, why don't you do it? Why don't you just do it? I'm like, I can't you're here. And he's like, I'll look away. And I'm like, that's not the point.

Unknown:

No, he's not like making fun of me as in like, to make fun of me in a mean way. But it's just like, the kind of relationships. I

Carrie Lecuyer:

have that interest. Oh, of course. Yeah. It's

Unknown:

funny. We laugh at each other all the time. Yeah. I know a few times I've tried to do some work, but I'm just like, not really ready for my daytime job to know about my other job. So and I earned a fair and I was supposed to be working. Yeah. No,

Carrie Lecuyer:

I think you have a good path and you got a good vision and you got new motivation. You got some new action steps that are happening in your life and so what's important to you now moving forward

Unknown:

so I kind of did. Well, my husband and I have been talking about this for a while, but we kind of were looking at expanding our family. And so I did the math because I'm, I'm I like to know all the facts and stuff. I don't I don't know if you know what the greencoat are the color code personalities, but I'm like a green blue. Yeah, yes. Yes, yes, that's awesome stuff. I'm always like, Oh, you're yellow, or, anyways. Um, I figured it out, too, basically down to the dollars and cents. And when I went, when I would go on that leave, or at least when I did last last time, as the wage that I get for oil and gas industry, which is fairly decent, I make less than half on maternity leave, which doesn't really work when you're usually the main breadwinner, and the stable breadwinner. So, I did the math and figure it out. And it was about 30 grand to stay on that leaf, like 30 grand difference that I would be losing out if I went on a family. And, and so I'm always kind of going towards that common goal that I'm like, I want to be able to go on that leave again, if we ever did have that opportunity. So and I also want to be able to someday replace my income or, or just like I don't want, as much as I love my job. I want to do it forever. And yeah, I'd love to be home more often. And because like my son who has been in daycare since he was nine months old, like they've practically raised him more than I have. To be able to not have to work. And days on end for days off, I'd like to be able to just make enough money that I don't have to check my bank account, every time I go to the grocery store or anything like that like it just for my husband. Because like in our area, there's not a whole lot of other jobs, you have to drive quite a distance to things. So I want to be able to like, not have to rely on his income either. Or I lost my train of thought, but it was, um, oil and gas industry is so feast or famine. Last summer. We lost a few co workers, they basically just turned the fat and it's just like, me, I need to make sure I have Plan B because I don't know how long it's gonna last or how long I'm going to last or what. So I need to be able to have it in place so that if something happens, there's still something coming in or at least opportunities. So

Carrie Lecuyer:

yeah. A lot of people's mind for sure. Yeah,

Unknown:

exactly. So feast or famine. So you better have A and B or C or D Yeah. Something. Oh,

Carrie Lecuyer:

wow. So great goals. Yeah. So this is a long term vision that you have and you are right. Like rising quickly, right. By I, I think I seen your posts that you had your first. Great big month. So that's, I mean, you don't have to share any income. But I think you're pretty proud of what you've accomplished so far.

Unknown:

I yeah, I had five right advancements last month. It did help a lot. But it was black Friday's day. So that was a huge push. But yeah, it was amazing. I, I don't think I made anywhere close to that. In one months. Previously in the company I was with before. This company is just amazing. Like i i I don't have to have in home events or even online events, or bugging my friends and family. I literally put out engagement posts and they come to me. Yeah. And then I take it from there. And it's either yes or no and move on to do so like it's such a plugin places so much is awesome. And it's kind of all in one spot. You're not digging around going, Oh, hold on. I got a video here. This says no, I got a picture over here. And she's a sector. So they have systems in play. And it's just they just made it easy. And yeah, we're not being spammy either. So I love that part. And and the best part well, it's one of the best parts I guess. They have a dual compensation funds that you don't have to recruit anybody if you don't want to. Um The previous company I was with, and I loved the products, I still take products, but I was stuck with them for three years. And my next step was to recruit and know what he wanted to join me as anything more than a discount person. So I was stuck. And I was just kind of like, I'm a failure, I can't even recruit people I have always supposed to be a leader, like nobody even wants to do anything. So it was just, it was good that I found this. And because I was just like, I would just probably would have just kept turning my wheels. And, and when I look back at all the advancements that I or like, that I made, I made them myself, like, from my own points, like, from my own product purchases, which is great that they offered that kind of option of rank advancements through accumulation, but just I don't, I just felt like I was spinning my wheels beating a dead horse.

Carrie Lecuyer:

So yeah, I love your journey, I love that you've been on a couple of different paths that were exactly aligned with you served a purpose at the time, and then all of a sudden, you fell into something that really lights you up, and you feel really drawn to when it's easy, because when it's easy, you know, there's a saying that money should be feel easy to make. And in your case, I think that's happening, you finally found it, where it's just natural and easy to make to promote, and to help the women and, and talk about nutrition, the fun facts of doing it, it's easy. And it comes across natural to the one I'm seeing on your Instagram is fun. And it is easy. And it is you and it's so nice. See, and it's refreshing. Because you can tell it's not from a place of you need to do this. It's a place where you really love doing it really love the product, and you see the results and it's making you happy. And and yeah, just, it's noticeable. And that's what that's when you know that you found something that is meant for you. But it took a top took some time to get there, right? It's our journeys are not always easy. That's what other people don't usually see is the hard part of getting to where we need to get. But eventually, if we keep moving forward, you know that there's something better, there's something more and you want to make more and do more and be more and stay home with your extended family that or whatever you have going on. Maybe it's to travel more, I don't want to each person has their own goals and visions. But you have it sounds like some bigger visions, and this is helping you fast track to getting there. It's exciting. Yeah. Does your husband push at you to do this or not do this or where CIAT on your support, because a lot of the women that I do have on here, they're just kind of in the background. Like they're just like, if you love it, go ahead and do it. But I'm not interested.

Unknown:

He's pretty good. Other than making fun of me, but it's fun. That's fair. Um, yeah, he's just kind of like, do whatever and, you know, gives me constructive criticism on my tic TOCs. And, um, yeah, actually, to my surprise, when I was telling him that I was making the switch, he was just kind of like, sounds like a no brainer. And I was just kind of like cheese, I thought that would have been a harder sell. Sounds like a no brainer, just to say about the other ones like is what it is. And he's like, like, like I said, it was like beating a dead horse. There's not much more you can do there. So, but no, he's been pretty supportive. He's not gonna be a teammate of mine and tell you that.

Carrie Lecuyer:

No, that's good. That's good. No, I really like it. I really like how you know this, this social retail is creating a new path for you that will help you create the new visions and the identity that you want to create for your family and your life ahead of you. And I just want everybody to know that too. Your information will be below in the show notes, but It's Caitlin Emerson on Facebook, Instagram, and you have a tick tock and I'll put all the show notes underneath and if you're curious to know what she's all about and and what this is she's talking about. Definitely check her out and you may surprise yourself on how real she is with her posts. And I just I really like watching what you're putting out there. And I know that at some heart and moms should see you because it is relatable and fascinating. And I love that you talk about nutrition, and it's helping you become the best version of yourself and the best mom that you can be right now. And that's exciting. And that's what women need right now a new switch. And you found that a switch, switch from your phone, you're totally different. It's totally, and that's what I love. When women find the thing that they love. It's like turning on the light switch. It's a whole new world. And it's like, it's a time warp. Essentially, like, it just moves so quickly. And you don't know how your life is moving so fast, but it's moving and you love it. And it feels motivating and inspiring. And it's that's you, that's what's happening to you right now. It's exciting. So Christmas is coming up, you have some fun products that people can check, you check out on your on your site, and they can reach you and talk to you.

Unknown:

We we have a promo coming up from the 15th to the fourth of January. It's it's our lean body system. It's all about Lean management. It's got our liquid collagen in it, which is what I take every morning, and then there's a couple other products to help support that and kind of jumpstart you for your January goals.

Carrie Lecuyer:

Yes, let's get ahead of the game for sure. Yes,

Unknown:

exactly. And like, it's kind of like they say pick three and take three. So you take these three products and the pick three are just gentle lifestyle lifestyle changes. So like you're walking more or you're drinking more or you're cutting out fried foods or you're cutting out sugary drinks. It's not something that's super crazy or super restrictive, like can still have your chocolate I love that about this. Especially because I find if I'm way too restrictive. I will burn out so fast. And then I'm just done. So that's that's awesome that you it's just slow, gradual changes that anybody can do because they're not just it's not like oh my gosh, cut out breads. I love bread anytime or it's like cut out all the candy. Well, you shouldn't have any but you should have candy in moderation or whatever. But like the nice part with this is it comes in different flavors. Excuse me, my favorite flavor is chocolate. And so it's like, I get to eat chocolate and get smaller. Perfect and it tastes like chocolate like It tastes like brownie batter like the beater. Yes, man melted it. So and it's it's, it's it's it's pretty awesome. So if you're interested in that they're their new promos coming out or, but I always have a $10 coupon for any new customers.
