Surviving an Active Shooter Event | What to Teach Your Kids | POF168

In this Episode, I’m talking to my friend and Safety Expert, Jason Brick, on how to teach your kids how to stay safe during a school shooting. (But these strategies will work in any active shooter situation).

As a parent, we don’t want to have to think about this; it’s our worst nightmare that our child might be hurt or killed in a school shooting. Parenting is hard enough, without worrying about doing the simple things in life that should be safe like taking your kids to school and going to the grocery store.

Because mass shootings have become a “regular” occurrence, I want to help you, and help you teach your kids the skills to survive, should this happen to you.

In this video, Jason shares important insights on getting to know your school’s state of ‘readiness’ in the event of a shooting, what certifications they have and how and if they have trained for it. Don’t be shy about asking. Don’t worry about being a pest! It’s the school’s job to keep your kids safe and if they aren’t doing what they need to, you can hold them to account.

Jason shares an updated strategy that is more effective and proactive than the often used, “run, hide, fight”.

We talk about how to prepare your kids at any age, using games. It’s never too early to teach your kids in an age-appropriate way, to keep themselves safe.

What we talk about in this video will help to keep your kids and YOU safe, no matter where you are, because the strategies work in multiple scenarios. As Jason mentions, there have been enough mass shooter incidents that we now know what works and what doesn’t.

You can use this video to keep you safe from an active shooter in many situations so please share this with your friends and family so we can keep more people safe from injury and death.
