La la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la holidays are here. No, no, no, that's my

Blair Kaplan-Venables:

like. That's like my Jewish rendition of the that song. I don't even know what it's called. But happy frickin holiday is. You know, by the time we're listening to this Anika has wrapped up. Christmas is around the corner. New Year's is around the corner. Other holidays are happening. And you know it is episode 52. Right? It's 52

Theresa Lambert:

it is episode 52. And you know, I was just thinking of Seinfeld and they have it's just like it's Christmas for some of us and Festivus for the rest of us.

Blair Kaplan-Venables:

And the holiday armadillo is showing up for those friends fans. So here we are blaring Teresa Episode 52, which means we have recorded 52 episodes. That's a whole year.

Theresa Lambert:

It's an entire year. Yeah. And you

Blair Kaplan-Venables:

know, we're gonna we're gonna end this this. I mean, we still have episodes coming out every week. But we're gonna really end this year talking about working over the holidays, what does that look like? And also, let's talk about our intentions for 2022. And, I mean, intention is a great word. I like goals. I like desires, you know, intentions, we can call them whatever we want. But you know, why don't we talk about what we want 2022 to look like? Let's start with setting that what do what do we want our year to look like? And then how do we wrap up this year with work? How do we wind things down and ease into the new year? How do we set ourselves up for success?

Theresa Lambert:

I love that. I love that. And I mean, two things. Yeah, I'm a huge fan on setting intentions. And I usually set a word like I choose a word for my year. And funny enough 2021 I chose my word was momentum. And this was before you and I birthed the program momentum, which we ran one cohort and the second chord starting soon and there may or may not be any spots left by the time you're listening to this just before Christmas, but we always have to link so you can always get in touch with us and see what's happening with that. But what happens when you set an intention like this and when you take some time over the holidays, you know, tying this workpiece and but also taking some time to step back and really reflect on what your yield was like and starting to set the intentions reconnecting with your vision. We just spoke about that in velocity and very, you know, claiming time to go deep before you start the year, so By the time January rolls around, you know what you're doing, you know what your intention are, you have that clarity and that direction and that guiding. You know, it's almost like a guiding post a lighthouse that's shining a light, right? And so when you set these intentions, like last year for me momentum, I brought everything back to that like what would feel like momentum in my business? What would feel like momentum in my life? What would feel like momentum in my health? What would feel like momentum in my financial situation? Right. And so it starts to bring this incredible, powerful intentionality into everything that you do. And I love that. But I literally took two weeks. Like, I'm just want to tell everybody, like, I don't just do all my planning in a day. I claim space. And the holiday season is the best time because a lot of people do take the time off. Like I generally have, you know, less meetings. And I feel like that's the same for for so many of us. Even when I was still in the hotel meetings went to zero, but then operations went to 5000. And so this year is only the second year for me that I'm not submit, in the crazy off the holiday season with hotel operations. Okay, so for me, Christmas is like, magical now, because there's so much space. But I take this space to VD lock on some really critical and powerful pieces for my business in my life in the coming year.

Blair Kaplan-Venables:

So brilliant. You know, when I was younger, I worked in retail, and Christmas was like the blackout period. You don't take time off, you work over time. And it's It was chaotic. And being Jewish, I always offered to work Christmas Eve because it didn't really matter to me. And like, I would like to have New Year's Eve off. But now it also doesn't really matter to me. Oh my gosh, I'm lucky if I can stay up till like midnight ever on New Year's last year, I think I was in bed at 10. But you know, with this whole new perspective of making my life less chaotic, and making it very fulfilled. I'm very intentional about how I spend my time. And if you've been following along, I've had a very difficult few years this last year extremely difficult with all the loss I've experienced. And I haven't really taken time off to grieve and decompress, because I've been running on fumes. And so I made a decision probably last month that I think I'm going to really have a mellow end to my ear, the last two weeks are going to be mellow the first two weeks. So when we're recording this, which is now I'm going to be you know, not working double time. But I've removed some stuff from my plate. And I'm going to do all my December work in the first two weeks, so that I can mostly be disconnected, I'm going to have to do some check ins with some clients. And I'm getting ready to launch the Resilience Project, which is our first book from the I'm resilient project on January 17, which is my mother's birthday or it would be my mother's birthday. But that to me is very fulfilling, it doesn't feel like work. And I'm choosing what I want to show up I'm not showing up because I have to. And so for me, it's not like oh, I'm going on vacation, I'm turning my email off, I'm fully disconnecting. I'm disconnecting from the things that feel like work, I've removed those things from my life. And I'm intentionally showing up where I want to. And I'm really excited to see how this unfolds. Because being an entrepreneur, it's really hard to take time off. And in February, I will be going on a trip and I'm going to try to fully disconnect for that week. I'm going to I'm going to attempt to fully take the week off and it's going to be a very important week for me. So that should be really interesting. But this is going to be a little test drive on seeing if the systems I set up allow me to do what I'm intending which is sleep and have nowhere to be nothing to do you know basically you know roll with the punches maybe I'll go skiing, hang out with friends see family, I love a good afternoon nap. A good afternoon stroll, you know, watching movies, I want to just know that my business is set up so that I can exist and be for myself.

Theresa Lambert:

I love that plan. And I think that that is so important. And that's such a powerful thing to declare as well. Because I find that this time period, and I mean I have a completely different plan. Come back to you. And I'll share it in a minute. But it can feel a lot of pressure to especially if we're in the online space with online entrepreneurs if we're you know, selling different programs offers services to Bvd active throughout the holiday season. because it is a time where like people on the mood of buying and like people like spending money, right. So these this last month like is such a great month for so many to really hit go and finish the year strong. And so there's all this messaging out there that we get inundated with. And within that noise, it can be really difficult to say, That's great for you. But it's not great for me. And I had this exact conversation with a client yesterday on this as well. And, and she said, You know, I'm intending to take the last two weeks off, but I still want to be on social media. And so funny that you're what you just said about preparing and VT getting everything done. Before you take that space, it's the exact thing I said to her, I was like, just like, here's how you really do this VD take the next two weeks to get everything set up. And make sure you have all this stuff ready to go, that's coming in the first couple of weeks in January, so that you're not feeling the pressure of things you need to do for you know, the January 2 third, fourth. And so as we had this conversation, I said the same thing, you know, as an entrepreneur, if you're working for yourself, ultimately, you choose what you want to show up for. And you're also the one that's in charge of your boundaries. So what are your boundaries, and what's stopping you from following through, you know, you're afraid that if you're not showing up every day, throughout the holiday season, that people won't buy from you, you're worried that you're losing the momentum in your business like, because sometimes it's the things behind, right, the idea that stop us from following through. So if you're listening to this, and if you're planning on taking the next two weeks to VD, you know, spend time with family and enjoy the holiday season. And if you may not have prepared yet, it's December 21. Today, I believe sure is, which means, you know, if you have until the 23rd that gives you basically three full days to get stuff done. So can you like put your head down, and VD focus and get done what you need to get done. So the next two weeks, and the first couple of weeks of January are covered. So you can relax.

Blair Kaplan-Venables:

And like, you might not celebrate Christmas, but my husband does and his family does. So I use it as a reason to, you know, take a break, drink some eggnog. I think what's really important back to what we're talking about with intentions is, you know, a lot of us will set goals and intentions for the year and then the year starts and shit happens. And my word for 2021 was empowerment. I built a whole program called empowerment. I created the empowerment pillars. It's super exciting. I'm launching an empowerment program, you know, into the new year. And I was thinking about like, what should my word be? And I don't know, like, I don't know what my words going to be for 2022 yet. And I think I think I'm gun shy. Like, you know, the last couple years I've I've set words, like, let's just talk about this 2018 At the end of 2018. I learned my father was terminally ill. And then at the beginning of 2019, I decided my word was going to be resilient. And that's why I came up with the I'm resilient project. It's so it's almost three years in the making. But then the universe really showed me how resilient I really was. The next year 2020 was abundance. And I did experience a lot of abundance. But I experienced a very hard end to the year with two very intense losses. And then 2021 shows up and it's an empowerment and it's been a very empowering year. That's for sure. So I mean, I think the word you choose is so powerful because your words have meaning you put the word into your universe, Teresa, like, do you have guidance on how we should choose a word or an intention for the year? Like how did you How do you what's your process? For me? It usually just drops in, but I would love some guidance from you or why is one and how to set that intention.

Theresa Lambert:

Yeah, the words are powerful. And in this is something that I spoke about in depth in velocity. And for those of you joining us into momentum, like you will get a depth version of this because I also have some really fun things planned because I'm going to have a fun event on the 22nd and the 28th for momentum clients and private clients to help prepare you for 2022 and VT Anka things in, but I'm a big fan on reverse engineering stuff. And I always bring it back to the Big Vision that you have, you know, not just for your business, but really for your life and visions of feeling mainly feeling based by Drew's visualization pieces around that, you know, you might want to see yourself in a certain place, but it's really around the emotional connection that we make, because emotions we have access to now. So whatever you're desiring, whatever that intention for the year, there is an emotional connection that's there, and we can recreate that connection every single day, regardless of what's happening in our life. So glad you know, it's so interesting that your word for 2021 was abundance. And it almost makes me a little bit teary, because I know, you know, what happened in 2021?

Blair Kaplan-Venables:

Well, it was 2020. Oh, sorry, what

Theresa Lambert:

was 2021? Again, empowerment. Empowerment still, okay. All of it.

Blair Kaplan-Venables:

Also, here's a virtual tissue.

Theresa Lambert:

Thank you. But, you know, regardless of the hardship that you've experienced, and the loss that you've experienced, every day, you were able to anchor into, you know, how could I show up in a way that would feel empowering? How can I empower other people? And, you know, tell me, what's the feeling you get when you feel like when you're empowering others? Or when you feel empowered yourself? What other emotions play in?

Blair Kaplan-Venables:

Sorry, I I didn't even hear you just sex I had to write down I think I know I have a choice of which two words I want for my neck.

Theresa Lambert:

Oh my god, I love it. So I asked you like when you empower people or when you feel empowered yourself? What other emotions show up for you?

Blair Kaplan-Venables:

It's okay, great. My my words I wrote down feel that the two words that have been really present as like feelings is fulfilled. And pleasure.

Theresa Lambert:

I love it. So fulfilled and pleasure. So you asked how do we get there, we reverse engineer it. And another powerful thing to ask is, how do you want to, you know, how do you want to feel when you get to the end of the year? pleasured. Pleasure, and flash. I mean, that is one of my like, anchors in business. I believe pleasure, branding. And strategy is what gives you the momentum in your business. I believe it's a mix of the free like everything we do should have a level of pleasure. Like that is like an anchor for me too. And a guiding principle that's like bigger, but this is the thing, right? Like, at the end of the year, like December 2022. When you get to the fatty, fast. How do you want to feel then? Right, like so choosing a word isn't just about choosing a word. And then starting with it, it's really more about finishing that way. And, you know, with your word being empowered you declaring I'm going to take some space, I'm going to draft I'm going to unplug, that is frickin empowering to me. And I'm sure it's empowering to you to say, You know what, this is what I'm gonna do this Christmas, were for me or the holiday season, because we're not all celebrating Christmas were for me, my word was momentum. And I am like, on like fire right now after getting back from Costa Rica. Like I'm so lit up by my world and what I'm doing and the things that are coming up, and I'm like, I'm going to be doing like 10 Days of Christmas. There'll be doors opening with really freaking amazing offers every day for 10 days. I don't know yet what damn starting it will be a couple of days before Christmas, but and I'm having these events for clients. And I'm like, Let's go like I love that vibe, right? And it's momentum to me, because it's been building so I want to get to December 31 and be like Holy smokes, like this year was that for me momentum. And it sometimes felt scary as fuck. But you know, even for me to to even declare this feels like momentum. I'm like, I'm in this vibe, and I'm feeling it. And so that's how you want to choose your word. You want to choose your intention. It's really about something that will carry you through an entire year that you reconnect with every single month, every single week, every single day. Every time you have a choice to make, you can bring it back to that. So that is really how we want to choose because what that feeling is you can access right rather than being like, oh if I made 200k in my business that means I had momentum in my isn't right. It's more like no, like, I kept showing up for this vision. I kept showing up for what I desire it to look and feel like and I feel like I'm having momentum regardless of how much money dropped in how many clients you served, how much your social media has grown. Like, how much how many pounds you've lost in freakin 2021 If you had a health weight loss goal, right, like, but it's about like, I actually feel this entire year I was in that. And that's an I am finishing it with that. And it wasn't like, oh, I have to sell Oh, I should sell or I should show up. It was like, I am on fire. Yes, you are. And we're doing this. Yes, we are doing this.

Blair Kaplan-Venables:

Yes, we are. We're doing it. We're doing it. Oh my gosh. Okay. So let's just recap what we talked about one, you know, how are you ending the year it can be like full steam ahead, or it can be rest, you need to do what's right for you. There's rest is a great thing. You don't need to earn your rest. We you know, resting is part of what we need to do. Resting is actually business development. Because when you rest you actually when you come back, you're showing up as a better version of yourself. And you know, or you go full steam ahead if you have that energy. I say don't push through if you know you need a break, take a break. There's always money to be made. Yes, the year is ending, but it's just a day. It's just that you're ending one day one year starting another day, another year, but

Theresa Lambert:

it's okay. It's okay. So now the beginning line,

Blair Kaplan-Venables:

right and like you can begin whenever you really want but this is just kind of when the the calendar who tells us but in Judaism, our Jewish New Year's in the in the fall, and it's different every year.

Theresa Lambert:

So the Celtic New Year's October 35th. So yes, yes. Oh, good.

Blair Kaplan-Venables:

So I'm going to declare right now that at the end of 2022, I want to be very fulfilled, and full of pleasure. And so I'm going to carry that into my next year, I have some really big goals. I'm going to be featured in Fast Company, I want my art my expertise featuring Fast Company, that's going to happen. I'm going to speak on stages around the world. I'm going to attend at least two different professional personal development conferences, meet some new people network. And you're gonna have to follow me on social media to learn what my other goals are. What about you, Teresa?

Theresa Lambert:

I love it. Well, my what? My intention for 2022 is actually a what I chose after the retreat I was at in Costa Rica. And it is abundance and overflow. Yeah, so abundance and overflow will be like my lighthouse. My words my intention for hours. The whole of 2022. And the question I asked everyone in the velocity masterclass got, I had so much fun. We had so much fun. This was such a incredible, incredible masterclass. Sorry, you can't join now, but it will happen again. So just keep following us. But I asked him, What would you like to be true when you get to December 31 2022 in your business, and I was thinking about that this morning. And I wrote down that 2022 was my $500,000. Year. So I'm here for half a million dollars in my business. This 2022 It's happening where you can do it in months. I want to travel more. I want to travel more. I'm traveling solo and traveling with my husband, Mike. So traveling will be on the books for me, at least minimum one month in Costa Rica. I've already booked I've already paid my deposit to return to the retreat. So the wheels are in motion kids, the wheels are in motion. And I would like to be featured in Forbes.

Blair Kaplan-Venables:

Yes. Yes, amazing. Brilliant. First of all, I'm coming with you to Costa Rica, she forgot to say she's traveling with me. Because we set goals and when we hit certain milestones, we, you know, reward ourselves and we've set some goals. So we're going on a tropical vacation. And I love those goals. And you know, working together, I will help you get that Forbes feature. And guess what? You know, this is great, cuz you're going to retreat listeners out there. Like I know we have our master classes and our workshops and you know, our business accelerator. Would you ever want to go on a retreat with us? Would you want to spend a weekend with us or a week with us? Let us know send us a DM if you're listening to us, send us a DM if you're a friend, send us a text email us. Let us know like should we create a business retreat where you basically you show up and we make shit happen for you. I think that sounds Really fun. Oh my gosh oh, there's

Theresa Lambert:

something about in person that Oh God in

Blair Kaplan-Venables:

the flesh. Okay, well let's wrap it up. Thanks for tuning in to another episode of dissecting success. I'm Blair Kaplan Venables.
