Trusting the Voice That Guides You
In this episode, Jenn shares the deeply personal experiences that shaped both her life and her heart-led business. Catalyzed by a traumatic twin pregnancy and a near-death experience, her story reveals how a mysterious inner voice has continued to guide her through intuition, meaningful conversations, and moments of profound clarity.
She also reflects on her journey of stepping into visibility and her commitment to giving back, donating a portion of every candle sold to mental health initiatives, with a special focus on supporting women and children. Jenn leaves listeners with powerful reminders to never give up, trust their vision, change the path but not the goal, and believe that support shows up exactly when it’s needed.

WSC Intro/Outro: This is when Spirit calls and you on your journey, are in the right place. This show is about magic, miracles and meaning shared through stories, interviews and channeled messages. We have so much to share about who you are and your divine mission here on the earth. Let's get to it when Spirit calls. Is right now.
Speaker:Rev. Rose Hope: Our guest today is Jenn Ragan. Jen is the founder of moody, a woman owned business rooted in intention, self care and inner fire. As a mother of twin daughters, Jen's naturally fiery spirit and lifelong love for candles are at the heart of everything she creates for her candles aren't a coincidence. They're a reflection of who she is. She deeply believes in the power of daily rituals supported by nutrition and movement as essential tools for maintaining a healthy and balanced mind. After experiencing major life changes and navigating the uncertainty of the pandemic, Jen began a profound journey of self discovery and healing in one evening, a vivid dream delivered the blueprint for moody reigniting the passion she had carried for candle making since childhood, in a time when mental health is finally receiving the attention it deserves. Jen is driven by both personal experience and deep compassion for others. Her mission is to give back create space for healing and spark positive change in her community and the world at large. So happy to welcome Jenn to the show.
Speaker:Hello everybody. Welcome back. So happy to be sharing another episode with you when Spirit calls. Oh, I met this woman a while ago at an event, and I loved her energy. I loved her mission, and I really wanted to dive in and know more about her, so I've invited Jen to the show. Hi, Jen. Hi, you have been up to some pretty magical creations lately, and I'm so excited for you to share your story and your journey with all of us. I really have a passion myself for the people that listen to those inner nudges, those you know, those intuitive, guided insights. And I feel like this is one of those areas that you're really leaning into. And I want to, I want to give you a chance to share that so take it away. Can you tell us? Tell us about it. Tell us about the path.
Jenn Ragan:Okay, well, I will. Thank you so much. I just want to say I'm really excited to be here, and I'm new to this podcast world, and I hope it's the beginning of many more to come. And you know, thank you from the bottom of my heart, from for taking interest in me and my small business
Jenn Ragan:Rev. Rose Hope: Such a pleasure. I was so happy,
Jenn Ragan:So, moody. Moody candles was a concept that came to me in a dream, and a little bit of backstory would be that I saw spirits kind of at the age of seven, was like my first memory, and I kind of shoved it down, because you didn't talk about stuff like that. And fast forward, I became pregnant with twin girls, and it was a surprise. And long story short, it ended up being quite a traumatic experience, and I hemorrhaged on the table and died. And so from then on, I would have conversations with this man that I heard like in that moment. And so fast forward many years, like 910, years, I blew up my life. I decided that I needed some changes. I filed for separation and divorce. I never found when covid had just had whispers, and I thought, oh, you know, two weeks and, you know, it'll, it'll just blow over. Well, it didn't and, like, I got divorced through covid too, so that that part was kind of like a very lonely time for me. Yeah, and so fast forward, I'm having one of those nights, you know, when you're laying in bed awake and all the anxiety and the fear takes over, and I just kind of put it out there, like, what am I going to do? Because I was a homemaker and essentially a ghost on paper, so you know, to get a loan, to get a home, to get all these basic necess. Cities was challenging for me, because I didn't exist on paper. So I eventually fell asleep, and when I woke up, it was like the biggest download I ever had. It was, you're going to have a candle company, you're going to name it moody candles, and it was the same man's voice that I heard. So I woke up and I literally was like, I'll try it. And so, yeah, with everything else going on, it was a very slow process, of course, because the timeline it's been, I don't even know how many years now, six maybe, and I've really been doing moody for a solid year, going to markets and all the good stuff. So very slow, but I'm doing it
Jenn Ragan:Rev. Rose Hope: well, well done on listening to that dream. Because I think if we all did that a little bit more, I think this world would be such a softer, more pleasant place for all of us. And unfortunately, you know, there's obviously some challenges that we have in our world and starting a business, like we need money to start a business, and, you know, we need trust and faith in the process start a business, and we need community, and all of those things. I feel like, you know, this is an inspirational story in so many ways, and one that really resonates with my own story. You know, the things that we stuffed away for a while, the near death experience, which I do want to spend some time on. So when you were delivering the babies you hemorrhaged. Is that what happened?
Jenn Ragan:Yeah, I had this panic leading up to my kids being born. They were over one month premature, and there was just this strong urge, it's like, get them out of me. Wow, yeah. I things just felt so wrong,
Jenn Ragan:Rev. Rose Hope: something, yeah, yeah.
Jenn Ragan:Yeah. And then, so eventually I made them induce me, and then I was panicked, and I just remember, like, gripping like, don't leave, don't leave, to my husband at the time, and my first daughter came out, and it was 50 minutes between them, so almost one hour. Yeah, it was very intense. And then finally, my second daughter came out, and it was like someone poured a five gallon bucket of liquid out onto the floor, which was my blood. And, yeah, it just went from the I could hear the chaos in the room, and I knew, you know, I knew I was going somewhere else. I didn't, I didn't figure out I was dying, until there was a moment I was like, Oh, my God, I'm dying. And then I knew, like, now I'm negotiating.
Jenn Ragan:Rev. Rose Hope: Oh, the space of negotiation. Yeah. Am I staying? Am I going? What's gonna happen next?
Jenn Ragan:Yeah, it was exactly that. And I have a tattoo, actually, the whole time, I kept saying, keep your eyes open. You're okay, if you just keep your eyes open. And my tattoo is an eye with trees, am I gonna root or will I fly like the birds? And yeah, so,
Jenn Ragan:Rev. Rose Hope: yeah, yeah, that's, that's remarkable. Yeah, there's a lot to take in with that experience. You know, you had a, yeah, you had a, you had a real moment there. And it's different for all of us. But obviously, there's, you know, there was a connection that was made with this man. Has not been named. Have you asked about this man? Have you dug in a little bit more? Are you curious to know?
Jenn Ragan:No, I'm very curious. But no, I've never asked. I don't actually even know why I've never asked. I just very in years. So
Jenn Ragan:Rev. Rose Hope: yeah, I would get to know the man.
Jenn Ragan:He's come to me many times, like, even after that.
Jenn Ragan:Rev. Rose Hope: Oh, wow. Okay, so he's a frequent, like, spirit guide for you. So I wonder if he's an ancestor or maybe something from a past life. Yeah, that's interesting. That would that be something that would pull at my curiosity? Yeah, yeah, wow. Well, that's really special. That's definitely spirit calling, isn't it? Like you can't get any more, no, like that is, that's the epitome of that, and that the, you know, the invitation, and then the ability to listen. Now that's, that's pretty powerful. So, so now you're creating these candles, and tell us about, like, what you're doing with them, because I, you know, there's a mission behind what you're what you're creating here.
Jenn Ragan:Yeah, so, I mean, like, I love money, like everyone, and we all need it, like, you know, but for me, it's just very important to have purpose and to give back. And I, you know, my business is very heart LED. And. And I I'm about all things self care and mental health, and one of my belief systems is just that you know you you exercise, you eat right, you do the best you can, and your mind will remain in a healthy state. So I donate $1 from every candle purchased toward a Mental Health Initiative. That's how I believe I can give back to my community. And I'm always looking for different charities. You know, some are some are children based, some are women based. But I just want to use my voice I'm learning now to be visible. That's always been very hard for me, because I'm a private person. But, you know, it's really hard to get out there and support your community and do good things when you're in your four walls. You know, being private?
Jenn Ragan:Rev. Rose Hope: Yeah, you know, there's a certain aspect of getting out of the bubble, right, that allows us to connect in ways that we maybe forget when we're in the bubble. And I think that's a really powerful message, actually, for our audience today, and in that reminder that, you know, it's so easy to get caught in these comfort pockets, right? And it requires us to stretch, like even if you're introverted or extroverted, you know, I'm an extrovert introvert, so I I'm good going out, but I need my regroup time too, and I've been finding myself just wanting to hibernate because it's been minus a bazillion, yeah, right. And so that makes it even harder, but I think that's a huge, a huge opportunity for us in going out into community. And I think that's what is the stronghold of humanity, is working together in community. You know? I think about the the old days where they used to go and build one farmer's barn, and then they'd all get together and build the next barn, you know, it was like that team effort. And I feel like sometimes, you know, we lose that in our isolation, and it's really easy to fall into that, especially with covid. I think there was almost this. It took me a bit to get out of the house, even after when Cobra was done, and I was like, I have to drive in the city, like, so it's interesting. How quickly that can that changes for us, so we get in that comfort space. So yeah, thanks for sharing that, and thanks for allowing your voice to be heard today. Because I think it's really important tell us what you've learned in your process. You know? What would you want people to know who are, like, maybe they have that dream that's playing, but there's like, so much against it. You know, it's like, yeah, what can you say to those people? Like, what do they need to know?
Jenn Ragan:Don't give up, don't change the goal, change the path, and only you need to see your vision and you don't need to explain it to anybody. I feel like I've had a lot of supportive people, but a lot of, like, unsupportive people throwing their, you know, comments that they don't even think about, you know, they just spew it. And you get excited about something, and you think you're sharing, you know, with the right people, and they just don't see it. They think you're in a pipe dream, or, you know, go get a real job, or, you know, so don't let people discourage you. It'll happen like I've been discouraged many times. And I say I have these, like, amazing Earth Angels that just always come, you know, out of nowhere, in, like, my times when I'm just like, I give up. I can't do it, you know. And they just see something like so out of left field that just lights my passion, lights my fire.
Jenn Ragan:Rev. Rose Hope: Yeah, I hear you, because I've been there before where people have said, you know, get a real job. It's like I working my ass off. This is a real job. It just doesn't make me the money that I need, right? But I think it's about that perseverance too. You know, there's many times I wanted to throw in the towel, and you said something really great. You said, don't change the goal. Change the path. And if you have that vision in sight about where it is that you want to be, where you want to go, and the path is not working for you, it's like, oh, wait a sec. I can redirect this. It might take me a little longer, right? I mean, it took me over a decade to write a book, you know. I mean, and these things take time. We can't force them, you know. And there's that piece about just letting ourself be led in time, you know. Rather than trying to force it, to rush it, for it to look anything different than what it needs to be.
Jenn Ragan:Yeah, it's never been my time. It's never come when I wanted it to right.
Jenn Ragan:Rev. Rose Hope: Yes, the more hooked in you get it to needing to look a certain way, the more it's going to be a different thing than what you want it to be, right? So there's a bit of surrender to that isn't there, because it's absolutely, you know, you kind of have to trust the process and go with the flow, because inevitably, that's what's going to happen anyways. And so the resistance is what oftentimes creates the suffering for us, isn't it? Right? The results to what is or resistance to, you know, I think that's such a powerful piece for us to remember, too, you know, stop resisting. What is, I mean, if it is that way, it is that way, our job is to surrender to that and not cause ourselves more suffering.
Jenn Ragan:Yeah, and to like, you know, I I love making candles, and I love meeting new people, but I always, you know, say, if this isn't where I'm supposed to be, then redirect me too, right? Maybe I have something else to do on top of candles, or maybe I have to let candles go. I'm not sure I'm just following my breadcrumbs. And what will be, will be because I just want to do and be who I'm supposed to be in the world.
Jenn Ragan:Rev. Rose Hope: Yeah, and I feel like there's, I feel like there's some deeper messages here behind moody, isn't there? Like, I feel like, can you like, there's something there that needs to come out. What is like? Tell me about the name moody, because I'm curious to know there's an energy to it. I and I want to understand it well.
Jenn Ragan:I mean, it's a it's a few different things. I've been told I'm a moody girl, right? Like, so there's that it's kind of funny, and then I just don't feel like I'm one thing, right? So when it comes to my candles, I like to just kind of do whatever I'm in the mood for, like I'm working on, kind of like a fire table candle where it's, you know, elongated, and it will emulate what's outside, or I have another candle that I actually purchased off of this woman. She's Korean. She makes her own essential oils, and I'm working on a sweet grass candle because she says that, you know, a lot of them are fake or imitation or synthetic. So I just love that it takes me anywhere, and I meet so many really cool people along the way, I'm finding my tribe,
Jenn Ragan:Rev. Rose Hope: yeah, yeah. Isn't that beautiful? I love that through this business that you're getting to experience that, you know? What a gift in that Yeah, yeah. Money can't buy that experience, you know what? I mean, no, right? And so, yeah, we can, yeah, take as much of the goodness as as we can from from the whole experience. And I love that you're doing that with this. Yeah, I definitely feel like there's, you know, a path for you that extends beyond the candles, and I'm sure you're feeling that bit of expansive energy kind of coming into so I'm excited to see what you come up with next and where things take us. Now, if we want to get some candles, can you tell us about how we can do that
Jenn Ragan:for sure? So I have a website, www.moodycandles.ca I am also on Instagram. My handle is @moodycandles.Inc, I'm on Tiktok too, for fun, same handle. Yeah, I'm experimenting with it. It's pretty green and rough, but
Jenn Ragan:Rev. Rose Hope: yeah, I haven't do it yet. Maybe I don't know. I, part of me is like, I've got, I've got, speaking of resistance, I've got some resistance to that. Still, I'm not sure if that's aligned yet for me, but I'm so happy when people are giving it a go. Yeah?
Jenn Ragan:I love how unpolished it is. Like, I just love that you just hop on and off you go. Yeah, brilliant. So fun. Yeah. And I answer DMS, emails, anything any Yeah.
Jenn Ragan:Rev. Rose Hope: And you got, in light of the season, you got something special to offer our listeners too, if they're interested in the candle. Yeah?
Jenn Ragan:So anytime you come to my website, if you sign up on my mailing list, and don't worry, I don't spam, I probably don't really have much to send you right now anyway, but you'll get 15% off your first purchase.
