Are you looking for your ambition? EP:21

Ambition creates focus and motivates us to work hard in accomplishing our goals.  Do you ever wish you could open up the closet, and pick out your ambition for the day like we do our clothes?

The reality is that we are responsible for determining what our life, career, family and other ambitions may be, but life takes over so quickly we simply lose focus and let others dictate what we should or shouldn’t do and we somewhere in life’s journey find yourself sometimes looking for the ambition we once had or think we should've.   

In this episode I will share very simple tips on how to find your ambition, and I bet you don’t have to look very far to find it.  Let me know your thoughts and action steps you take to reignite your ambition for today.

This is me putting one foot in front of the other, moving towards my next goal, and hoping to inspire you along the way. Let's get started. Welcome back to selling smart decisions podcast. I am your host, Carrie lick way. And today's topic is ambition. Are you looking for your ambition? I think that this is a super great question that I've actually been asking the past week. Ambition is a strong desire to do or to achieve something typically requiring determination and hard work. And that's right. Right there is where we shut the door. Hard work determination is a part of the ambition that we are looking for. We'd like the ideas we used to have, we'd like the thoughts we used to have, we don't allow those thoughts to come forward anymore. Because behind all those thoughts behind the other side of the line of happiness and what we want to do with our lives, it becomes a lot of determination and hard work. And then we come up with all sorts of excuses of I don't have the time. I just don't feel worthy enough to do that. Or it sounds like in investment. And I can't do that right now. I don't have the money. My partner will not be on board with us. He will not agree she will not like this. So what do we do? We just shut all that shit down. Does it sound right? Does it sound like you? Or does it sound like someone you know, we have these thoughts. We get these ideas. And then we seem to always be in this funk. Especially the last couple years. But when it comes time to do the work and to make an adjustment, we find all sorts of other things we can do. I do this all the time. I know all my clients do this all the time. It's our patterns. It's our story. It's a cycle. It's crappy. And how do we move out of that? Well, let's talk about that today. Mm hmm. This is so great. We want to reflect on our previous achievements. And as moms. Sometimes we feel like we actually have done like the like before mom being a mom is no longer exists. And the things we used to do just seem so irrelevant that we possibly could have maybe never have done those before. Because how could I have done all those cool, fun things? How could I have been a leader? How could I have done the work? How could I have started that business? How could I have started that new job or started that training? Because it's impossible to think about right now. And that's okay. That's just mindset, because you know you're capable. So we want to reflect on previous ciments. And this is a great way to start to be find your ambitious feeling low, reflect on everything you've achieved so far. Even being a mom, there's a ton of great achievements. This can help you remind yourself that you have been capable of working towards all sorts of goals, all sorts of things you want to do. And it's okay to give yourself a break from being ambitious every subject and to really look and navigate what it is you really want. Maybe you want a completely different shift, and that's okay, maybe you want to dabble in something you've never thought yourself to do before. Because when we're a mom, we actually all sorts of strengths, new strengths and new skills come out that we probably never thought we have. We can multitask like no other human being right? Like we can do 100 things before. Everyone's up in the morning. You know, it can get done. But we can also get stuck in our old stories and hold ourselves back. And that's what's happening. So I'm looking for my ambition. This is the greatest thing that I heard from a client last week, got a call. And I said hey, how's the how's your day going? How's what's happening today? She said, Well, I'm looking for my ambition

and We both had to laugh, because just how she worded it, it was like she could open this closet. And like a broom, you would just grab the ambition looking in the refrigerator, and it would just you would just know what to make, like the ambition would just pop out at you like it does when you're trying to make food for your family. Just how she said it would just be so magical if it was just there. So we have to smile a little, it's a great conversation opener. That's how this topic came about, actually. So let me ask you, do you feel like this? Because for the rest of the week, I asked the rest of my clients the same question. And their answers were all Yes, that's what I've been looking for all along. This is exactly how I feel and someone put it into words and just looking for it. So where do we start finding ambition? starters, we surround ourselves with new people, people who talk about positive things positive life who are talking about the things that you want to move towards who are allow you to talk about those things. And they may be completely different topics than what you're used to talking about. And you'll know instantly. If those people no longer serve you anymore, because you're leveling up, let's just say, and they're not interested in your conversation, because that's new. And that's uncomfortable. And that's what that's not who you used to be. So why do you want to do this now. So your friendships may shift. And once you start talking out loud to a few people have about this new interest, you'll slowly find and navigate your way to new people who want to talk about those areas, and allow you to talk about them and give you the space to talk about them. And that's where new ideas are sparked. Surround yourself with ambitious people. When you surround yourself with ambitious people, you may feel more inspired to be motivated yourself. I know I get that way all the time. Get to know what your habits are. And revamp them. It's a thought process. And by seeking out ambitious people are starting to have them over for coffee or going for a walk with an ambitious person you think so I can have a mentor. When we choose a new mentor, we automatically shift our life, it just automatically starts happening. You start doing things that you've never done before you start having new thoughts that you may have never thought before. It's the most magical thing that happens when you start allowing yourself to be open to new conversations, new people, surrounding yourself with new people and ambitious people. They don't have to do what you do, you don't have to do what they do. But just that, in itself just creates this new energy in yourself. And you will just feel right, they're more ambitious, I guarantee it. Another way you can high more ambition is look at it about the way of competing with yourself. Rather than focusing on the achievements. If you can't find them at this moment. Focus on improving your own life, your own career, your own ideas. Your biggest competitor in life should be yourself. Compete by finding new ways to challenge yourself and approve your efforts. When you focus on your own goals achievements, instead of comparing yourself to others, you may find it easier to stay positive. I never signed up for Ironman because I was doing it with a friend who pushed me that way. I signed up for it to push myself essentially, I could hike 14 hours in the mountains, I could run a marathon, I could do all these other things. So what's the next step to challenge myself, that's where it came about. I could challenge myself, when I'm doing a half marathon I'm always competing against my last time. And if that time was way out of whack, and I can't do that, then I'm focusing on just beating the girl ahead of me. If I can pass that one girl ahead of me or if I can pass the next man in front of me like there I think of it is like, you know, the running room has running bunnies, timing bunnies that you follow for your time. And I think of it as I'm hunting these bunnies. I'm trying to get to these bunnies because I know once I pass them, I won't let them pass me again. So I'm competing in the moment with myself, one person at a time one power pole at a time. If I get to the next powerful, then that's great. We'll just get to the next power pole and that's great. And then once you've gone five power poles down the highway are the road you have to get back. So that's a goal in itself. So break them down to achievable goals

to reach your career goals, life goals. Money goals, weight loss goals, you need to be willing to put in hard work and effort you need to shake things up. Having a vision is a big part of feeling, the determination towards the desires and the dreams that you have, they don't die, they don't die. When we become moms, they are very much in our heart, if you think of them over and over again, might not be daily, but if they are daily, then you really do need to move towards it, that's a sign, you are being pushed into that direction, and you're trying to heavily ignore it. But if it keeps coming up year after year, and nothing shifts, change your story, because something needs to change. It's something you need, you need to visualize more than you ever have before. And we don't visualize right now, because we don't know the outcome of what's happening in our world, what we can do what we can't do what we'll be allowed to do in six months, we just have to shift and change our visualizations. And even myself, I've been in a law not knowing what to move towards when everything keeps getting shifted. But that's up to me. So this is a message from myself to to shift them to find new ambition. And it's amazing how all of a sudden last week, things started shifting for myself once I recognize my own story. You have to plan our day. Ambition is an important part of achieving what we want in life. Many worthwhile goals take hard work, and determination to achieve wish we all know don't be afraid of those words. Love them. That's what makes things different. That's what makes it a new journey and adventure. So bring your vision to light, allow yourself to feel them if it's a new vehicle, if it's a new job, if it's more money, if it's a new maybe a new completely shift in work, you want to you are in finance and you want to go to healthcare, whatever it may be only you know that you know right now, what's on your mind. You know, if you're tired of feeling the way you're feeling, if you're looking for something different. There's so many different ways, but you have to acknowledge first where you're at what is the one thing I must do today, that is not a household chore or a health task. That will help me move towards something new and different. And by this I mean absolutely get your work in perfect done for the day Great. Feed the Kids, get them out the door for school, get their lunches on the go get the laundry in the washing machine, great, that's household stuff, workouts in the chiropractor, the doctor, those are health tasks that we need to do the doing one thing beyond survival skills, life skills, to wake up our brain. And to not be in the survival mindset will feel very energetic at the end of the day. might even feel exhausting, because you've pushed your mind to new capacities. And it hadn't been there in a long time. But it feels exciting at the same time. If the mind only feels like doing self care and survival mode, that's what you'll only do. But when we when we put our mind to engage and feel and remember, beyond survival mode, remember the excitement to remember the the just inspired action that we would get in our old way of moving towards something. It's exciting. When you see I'm doing all the things I get the exercise, great yoga, the massage once in a while the bass at night you're doing all the self care things. That's great. That's health, that survival. That's household stuff that has nothing to do with moving towards your next goal dream. That's nothing to move into your superpowers. That's just taking care of you. And that's what you you do as mom, you take care of your household, your health care your self. So it's time for you to ask yourself, Am I looking for my ambition? Do I have the motivation to do the things I envision more ambitious for? Hmm, that's a loaded question. Hey, where are you at? If we dream about nothing, we never push our minds past the comfort zone. So you must dream about something when you're cooking. Like my dream. What if you could in six months, what could you do? Where would you go? What would you try and put wasn't impossible if you had the money? What would you do?

Carrie Lecuyer:

Dare to dream. You have to dream you have to put the vision in there you have to have something exciting to daydream about this, or something better, is the perfect question. The statement to ask yourself, tell yourself, this right now, or something better. And I think every single one of us wants something better. Even though things can be great. We still want something better. Tell yourself those things, tell yourself the something better. If your mind doesn't touch the future, see the future, then taking some sort of actions that will be impossible. Once a day, you should be moving towards something that's of greater vision than just the household, daily chores of our life, we all have those. So embrace your imagination. When facing challenges, use your imagination to escape to a more positive state of mind. Think of all the future possibilities and how getting through hard work can now lead to better days, imagination is also an effective tool. When creating your goals, you can always start off with big goals and scale them back to the more realistic I am known for Go big or go home. It's still scary. Little by little, you could even work towards especially those ambitious goals. what's working, what's happening is, I guess we're just focusing on right now, for everyone the inconveniences of what's happening in the world, and the fear of what's happening in the world and the unknown of what's happening in the world giving us more time to consume of what we don't want what's not in our control. So we don't visualize, we stay present in the fear, the unknown, the what ifs, something bad happens, our brain naturally goes to that because that's safe. That's our ego shutting us down. This is where he likes us, it doesn't want us to drink. So when we mix things up, when we have lost touch with our future, our future self, then you start to gain motivation. You've never lost it. It's just you haven't focused on it. You haven't spent the time daydreaming about your future, because the future is so unknown. But the fact is that the future has always been unknown. We have to create exactly what we want by visualizing. And it may seem like a childlike thing. But that's exactly how people get to where they are, are you see someone who's successful in your mind, they had a vision, they had a dream at one point in time and they started doesn't mean that their journey was easy or simple. They could be struggling every single day and you would never know it. But they're doing what they love is started with an idea and a dream. Taking care of yourself, taking care of your family, taking care of your home is super important. And we will stay in that mindset in survival mode. And the brain will just love that. But if we spark a new flame, if we move into a new motivation, a new momentum, and we start visualizing our ideal future, we start thinking and being excited about life again that it is possible. It's just a flick of a switch. It's not easy. Tomorrow, you could have a totally different mindset. But for right now for right here. What do you want to feel ambitious about? What are you looking for in ambition? If it were knocking at your door and you open it? What would it say to you? What would it hand you? What would it give you? What would it show you? It's required now for you to open that door. Open your mind to what you want to know that you don't have to do anything. All at once. Everything is figured out one step at a time, right? We don't have to see the whole staircase, we just have to take the first step. You just need to trust yourself. And that's where starts. Allow yourself to dream. Allow yourself to feel allow yourself to acknowledge who are looking for your ambition.
