About the Host:

Howard Brown is son, brother, husband, and father first and foremost! Also a best-selling author of Shining Brightly, award-winning International speaker, Silicon Valley entrepreneur, interfaith peacemaker, two-time stage IV cancer survivor and healthcare advocate. For more than three decades, Howard’s business innovations, leadership principles, mentoring and his resilience in beating cancer against long odds have made him a sought-after speaker and consultant for corporate businesses, nonprofits, congregations, and community groups. In his business career, Howard was a pioneer in helping to launch a series of technology startups before he co-founded two social networks that were the first to connect religious communities around the world. He served his alma matter —Babson College, ranked by US News as the nation’s top college for entrepreneurship—as a trustee and president of Babson’s worldwide alumni network. His hard-earned wisdom about resilience after beating cancer twice has led him to become a nationally known patient advocate and “cancer whisperer” to many families. Howard, his wife Lisa and daughter Emily currently reside in Michigan. Howard’s happy place is on the basketball court and you will find him there 2-3 times a week.

Howard Brown:

Hello, it's Howard Brown. This is episode zero of the shining, brightly podcast. So excited. This is been an amazing journey and I can't wait to share with you. And I want you to come along and shine with me each week. We hope to motivate, educate and inspire you.

Howard Brown:

So who am I? I'm Howard Brown. And I always say that the most important thing is that I'm a son, a brother, a husband, a dad, and that's the most important stuff and a good friend. But I am a Silicon Valley entrepreneur. I love technology. I come from Babson College, the number one school in the world for entrepreneurial studies of building things. alum innovation. Also, I do a lot of community service, inner faith outreach, leadership. It's amazing. And I'm a survivorship coach, and you'll understand why in a second and a big healthcare advocate. I'm a two time stage four, cancer patient survivor and advocate 30 years apart. Yes, I had non Hodgkins lymphoma at age 23. And colon cancer at age 50.

Howard Brown:

And I'm here to talk about it. Anyways, my guests will come from all over the world. They are going to share stories, lessons, inspiration, okay? For living a resilient life with hope. And that's what we want everyone to get out of my guests and my shows how to get back up again. That's, that's the trick. That's what you need to do in life. Otherwise, it gets really really dark, can get depressive, other yucky stuff could happen. So we're gonna help lift up ourselves, then we're on solid footing, we're gonna lift up fathers. And why? Because we're gonna join this movement, the shining brightly movement to become a force multiplier for good and positive change. That's what it's all about. That's leading a good life.
