Paul Finck:

Welcome, welcome. Welcome to this week's edition of Mavericks Do It Different podcast. I'm Paul Finck The Maverick Millionaire and this is the Maverick Universe. When you want a different future when you want a different life, when you want to create even more results in your business and personal life, this podcast is for you. So grab a coffee, your notebook and let's get busy, because this topic is gonna be immense for you and just super powerful because it's manifestation of scam. Is the movie The Secret really just a fairy tale? Could the idea of law of attraction be a bunch of hoopla designed to lure people into believing worthless activity with no real results ever occurring? Indeed, that's what some people believe, and others who blindly believe in all this in the same way they fantasize about witches having superpowers or genies, granting us our wildest dreams. When he got introduced to this concept via the movie, The Secret came out in 2006, or became interested in this through a webinar or podcast introducing you to the law of attraction. Maybe you're interested in meditation in spiritual seance and one way or the other. Most of you at some level have considered the concept that you through your thought, energy strong willpower can cause things to happen. The manifestation or the law of attraction has been a subject of such debate and interpretation, especially with the realms of psychology and business, personal development, popular culture. And it generally goes like this like attracts like. Positive and negative thoughts bring positive or negative experiences into a person's life. However, even the most of the most of the true believers though people really believe in this don't understand the scientific reasons behind it, that make it even possible or, more precisely probable. That's right, there's true scientific evidence between the theories and concepts that we gravitate to. From a scientific point of view, there's empirical evidence to support manifestation. I want to go through just a few of these reasons and help you understand what happens in the universe. The first one I want to cover is the simplicity of clarity of focus and how that works. As you decide to manifest you actually focus in on what you want with precision and detail. The simpler not so simple act of getting clear on what you want and focusing in on it in detail may not manifest something in a mystical sense. However it Prime's your mind and behavior to be more in tune with the opportunities in tune with pathways that lead to your desired outcome. In other words, once you know what you want, fulfilling on that desire becomes easier. Thus you receive fine create, manifest what you want, sooner than you ever would have expected. Thus, you believe in manifestation and your belief in that is born. For example, suppose you're in a job and you want to achieve you want to advance your career. There's a broad goal that could lead you to multiple outcomes. However you decide to manifest a promotion within your current company. In the next year, you get specific you name the title position you want, by when what specific increase in salary you were meant to have. Because of this new increase in clarity, you take an extra course to sharpen your skills for the new promotion. You engage in more conversations with the people directly involved in that position to confirm that you're that they like you and you engage with them. At that level, you become aware of all conversations around movement of others in key roles, key positions, and you make sure to let people know the moment the position is open that you want to be considered. Due to all of this focused energy centered on a singular goal to be promoted. You experience more confidence in the workplace, and enroll more in managerial conversations and overall play a bigger role in the company. How all these factors play into you actually getting the job and the raise that you wanted. You may however discount all of that. Find a piece of paper or your vision board you created 12 months earlier, and give all the cause and effect credit to the concept of manifestation Hey, let's be clear. I'm a firm believer in manifestation I'm not discrediting it. Matter of fact, I want you to understand that there's true science behind what's happening. It's not just a mystical essence. Let's go through another one. Another angle for which we can examine manifestation is, via the study of self fulfilling prophecy. I learned so many years ago studying. Studying psychology, the exact specific outcomes that happen is that you're likely to make them happen through your own activity, thereby attracting the specific outcome you want. Concepts of self fulfilling prophecy and manifestation share common theme. Both involve the power of belief and expectation in shaping reality. In self fulfilling prophecy, your expectations or beliefs about a situation or outcome influence your behavior in such a way that causes the expected outcome to occur. For example, if a teacher believes that a particular student is gifted, they may give that student more attention, or more challenging assignments, which in turn could result in the student performing at a higher level. Thus, what you believe will happen actually does. There was a famous study that involved the concept of self fulfilling prophecy, and it was conducted back in the late 60s. They divided a class based on eye color, those with blue eyes and those with brown eyes. The teacher and students were then told that blue eyed people were smarter, more successful, better than those with brown eyes. Very quickly, the blue eyed children began to perform better academically, even began to ostracize the brown eyed children. The brown eyed children, on the other hand began to perform worse academically, and displayed. actions have lower self esteem behavior in that regard. A reversal of roles on the following month produced similar but opposite effects. Oh, why did all this happen? As they analyzed the recordings, it was shown that the teacher would treat the two groups differently, just ever so slightly, giving the blue eyed kids extra playtime and privileges and praise. This differentiation and treatment created the expected outcome to the teacher thought was already present. Thus, we're left with the question What came first, the intelligent blue eyed children are the belief that the blue eyed children were in fact more intelligent. Let's examine manifestation through the lens of cognitive dissonance. Now cognitive dissonance is the discomfort we experience when we attempt to hold two conflicting beliefs simultaneously. Our whole being is then motivated to alleviate this discomfort and find a solution. If you believe you are successful, but act otherwise you'll be compelled to act in ways that resolve this dissonance either by acting successfully or by changing your belief in yourself. With this concept in mind, we are so moved to resolve cognitive dissonance that we act in ways we would not normally once we decide we want it's one thing because our thoughts are something different. We then create this congruence see of acting or changing thus we end up thus we believe we achieve.

Paul Finck:

With cognitive dissonance the act or the motivation to adjust to create congruence is so powerful that we end up manifesting exactly what we're thinking. Let's talk about something else. Another concept called confirmation bias. This is the concept that once you believe something you're more likely to seek interpret or remember information that confirms your pre existing belief, making it seem as if the belief was absolute. Considering all the supporting evidence. This bias is then amplified by the advent of search engines, social media platforms, internet based services that use algorithms designed to show us what they think we want to see. Imagine if you will, you're looking into the topic of climate change. You have strong opinions on the matter and you search is climate change a hoax rather than something more neutral, like provide evidence or against climate change the phrasing around what you're searching for slanter results and as you search what will resonate with you is the information that aligns with your pre existing beliefs shows up, you're predisposed the search engine to confirm this belief. You're in turn more likely to click on Articles with titles that resonate with your skepticism, such as the climate change hoax expose 10 reasons climate change is overblown. You then skim over all the data and arguments in front of you until you find points that confirm your existing belief. You then focus on those mentally noting them for future debates. And finally, all based on preconceived belief systems. And the deep desire to avoid cognitive dissonance, you will tend to dismiss what doesn't fit as BIAs are overblown propaganda. Social media will then connect you with all in the other people that agree with you and providing you with tons of social proof that you are right all along and what you believe become so whole these things do overlap and do interchange what with one another in the concepts and belief habit, this one the reticular activating system, it's a concept of neuros Psychology, if you will, and how manifestation is shows up in your reality in a greater sense, the reticulating activating system is actually a bundle of nerves that our brainstem that filters out unnecessary information. The important stuff gets through In other words, is the reason you notice a clock ticking when you first enter a room and then tune it out afterwards. It also is the reason you suddenly notice a particular make model and of a car that you want, as soon as you consider buying it. The reticular activating system can explain to some extent why focusing on a particular thought or goals can make it seem like you're attracting them into your life. If you focus your thoughts on achieving success, your RAS will naturally filter in opportunities and information related to that particular goal. This doesn't mean you're manifesting success in the mystic in a mystical way, it means that you've primed your brain to seek out information and opportunity related to your focus, making you move more actively towards that goal, the concept so often incorporating the goal setting and cognitive structuring techniques. For instance, motivational speakers such as me maybe, and self help books might suggest visualization exercises and the use of a vision board to help program your RAS to notice opportunities aligned with your goals. In business we experienced the phenomenon of Top of Mind awareness. The focus of businesses in the pursuit of effective branding is all about getting their brand to be the first thing you think of in a given category by consistently making their presence known. Thus your RAS filtering system filtering their message into your consciousness of awareness above all else. Like most of what I've laid out, the essence of the reticulating reticular activating system may not prove that manifestation is real, but it does provide a rational explanation as to why focused attention can lead to perceive manifestations. So manifestation a scam a hoax? No, absolutely not. Based on more than just wishful thinking, when you examine the power of what happens when you engage in the process of manifestation, you empower the science of clarity of focus, self fulfilling prophecy, cognitive dissonance, confirmation bias and the reticular activating system, thus activating the science behind the philosophy. Yes, there there is true scientific reasons why what you put out there you get and why you should not only believe in manifestation, you should apply the core practice of specifying what you want daily. Because based on the science, you have a significantly increased chance of manifesting it into existence. So absolutely manifest dream. Imagine, Believe in everything that you want in life. Because the science is working to your benefit to make it happen in your world. This is Paul Finck this is Mavericks Do It Different podcast.
