Parenting Your LGBTQ Teen

Parenting Your LGBTQ Teen

Our guest Heather Hester chats about how parents are experiencing a lack of connection and a place to go for advice when it comes to parenting this generations teen. Heather shares her personal story raising 4 teens, 1 of whom came out several years ago. She felt she had no where to turn for advice and understanding and so she first built a website offering the resources she had found, and then also created a podcast to let parents know they are not alone. Julie Ann and Heather discuss how what is considered acceptable today has changed from the past, and the mixed message our children are receiving in this vulnerable, open discussion.

About Our Guest:
Heather is a podcast host and coach for parents and allies of LGBTQIA+ adolescents and young adults. She believes the coming out process is beautiful. She works with her clients to let go of fear and the feelings of isolation so that they can reconnect with themselves and their child in a meaningful, grounded way. She is a writer, the mother of four (two of whom are LGBTQIA), and a student of life who believes in embracing the messiness, opening to education, strengthening through empowerment, and overcoming anything with love.

He recently passed and this inspired her to start this podcast show to inspire other people to live a life on purpose and in joy and with no regrets!
