Today's guest is Joel Solomon, prosperity coach, who works with entrepreneurs and individuals who are ready to transform their relationships with money and step into the real, lasting abundance. Joel is known for helping people uncover and rewire the subconscious money beliefs that quietly shape their financial reality through affirmations, abundance and meditations, manifestation techniques and the principles from his best selling book, The nine money rules millionaires use Joel guides his community to move toward financial freedom with clarity, confidence and intention. Of course, that's why we have him here today. I'm excited to welcome Joel Solomon to leading with purpose. Hello, Joel. How are you today?

Joel Salomon:

I am great. Thanks so much for having me Mark. It's such a pleasure and honor to be here today. Thank you so much.

Mark Porteous:

Oh, I'm so glad to have you here, because, again, we work with visionary leaders, and there's a lot of issues sometimes around money, and your work centers on really shifting the money beliefs, rather than just financial strategy. What first open up your eyes to the idea that prosperity begins internally, not externally.

Joel Salomon:

That's a great question. I think. My whole life, I realized that it's an inside job, but specifically in 2016 when I met Mike Dooley, who teaches the core concepts of infinite possibilities and IP, I'm a certified infinite possibilities trainer. I got certified in 2017 and he wrote a whole book about how thoughts become things, and not just sometimes, but always. And then, of course, the question becomes, well, how do you manage those thoughts, and how do you manage your frequency and vibration? And so basically, by studying his books and studying other books like Think and Grow Rich and studying Neville and Neville Goddard, and studying Wayne Dyer and all of his books, I've realized that it you need both. You need to have a the right mindset, but you also need the right strategy, and without with one, without the other, you're unsuccessful. And I've met a lot of people over the years, the last 10 years, who have great strategy, keep on getting more and more, coaching, learning, learning, learning more, but not being successful, because their mindset is down here in fear and worry, and they don't believe, and belief is everything. And rule number one in the nine money rules, millionaires use my second book, as you mentioned, the best seller from 2019, is when you believe, right? And so I this is one of the first things I ask every potential client or client that comes to me is, what's your belief level in your business? Now, you didn't mention I also teach investing. I'm a former hedge fund manager. I shut down my hedge fund in 2016 to coach. And so even with investments, this is not something any financial planner or financial wise is going to ask you, but that's the first thing I do, is like, Okay, I'm going to be teaching you, or I'm going to be sending you. I have a new done for you product this year called the InVEST smart engine, where I give the people the results of my five step proprietary stock screen and but the first thing I do

Joel Salomon:

before anybody signs up to to get that program is, what's your belief level? Because, from one to 10,

Mark Porteous:

Because what's your belief level about money specifically,

Joel Salomon:

Or or whatever you're doing your business, the investment process that I'm going to teach you, the investment process I'm giving you, whatever it is, what's your belief level? Because, if you're in fact, or anything, I teach you, affirmations, manifestation, techniques, investing, all of it, you know business strategy, what's your belief level? This will work, right? Because if you're down here at one massive doubt, no matter what I teach you, it's not working right. And and I literally was talking with a woman yesterday, and I have a great technique that has worked with dozens of people to help them generate an extra $10,000 in the next 30 days, right? And many people have had a work but that's because they believe. And so I asked this woman yesterday, what's your belief level that you could generate $10,000 in the next 30 days? She said. That's impossible. I'm a one. And I said, Okay, it's not happening. What about 5000 because usually when the amount goes down, your belief goes up, right? And so I said, What about 5000 she said, Five It's okay. That's not happening either. I said, Okay, what about 2500 so generally, I've been doing about that, you know, I could see manifesting $2,500 okay? Yeah, I'm a 10 for that. So now I don't limit it. I say we're gonna, you're gonna do at least 2500 right? So if the universe wants to provide more, and you, your belief level is okay, then maybe it's 3000 or four, but it's belief first, right? And so So, and I'm pretty sure most people don't do this right, because they'll just teach a strategy. Hey, it's worked for others. It's going to work for you. That's not how I operate, because I know that it's the inside job that's going to create, not the outside strategy totally.

Mark Porteous:

And I know many purpose driven entrepreneurs actually struggle with earning more while they're staying aligned with their values, and that's why, when you brought up, you know, what are your beliefs around this? I was wondering about the different values. What mindset shifts do you see as essential for creating abundance without compromising integrity? Because I think that's really what a lot of people are doing, like, oh, I can't charge what I'm worth. Or, oh, in order to do that, I have to be salesy. You know? What are your mindset what are the necessary mindset shifts for entrepreneurs who are worried about struggling to align with their values,

Joel Salomon:

And it's so it's that's the first step right is figuring out that where your alignment is, because if you don't believe you're worthy of massive wealth, then we have to fix that right. Because I believe everyone is. And maybe you know, when you came into this body, your soul was, I'm thriving, right? And then well meaning humans taught you otherwise, you have to struggle to get rich, or good people aren't supposed to care about money, right? And so these are all limiting beliefs that we've been taught, or you have to work really, really hard to be rich and successful. I will tell you personally that in 2008 I did that. It was my first job as a hedge fund manager where I got paid for performance. And so I was taught that by my grandparents, taught my parents taught me you got to work really, really hard. So I worked 7080, hours a week, 2008 you may remember, was not the best year on the stock market. The market down 40% financial stocks, the only ones I was invested in, were down 57 but I did manage to make a little bit of money that year for the Citigroup shareholders, but I barely had a bonus, and I realized if I continued working that hard, I might not see my daughters become teenagers, right? They were foreign to at the time. And so I changed my thinking, change my actions, change my beliefs, which is, I can work smarter and make more money. I can have more fun, be happier and make more money. And so these are actually some of the nine money rules millionaires use, right? It's how so this is what I teach, right? And so, by the way, in 2009 I made more than 10 times what I made in 2007 and in the Great Recession, right by work, by changing this mindset. And so it's teaching people that you have to increase your vibration. You can't be vibrating and worry and fear. And I say that everyone's worth significantly more than the getting paid like I work with a lot of coaches, spiritual entrepreneurs, the Reiki master, the energy healer, the

Joel Salomon:

psychic life coach, my people, meditation teacher, yoga teachers, you know, wellness owners, owners of owners of wellness centers. These are all past clients, mine and car clients, mine and and generally, there's these limiting beliefs and and then there's the worry about money, the fear. And so if you're down here, we need to figure out how to increase that vibration, how to create increase those thoughts, from fear and worry to expectation and fun. So I have techniques, audio files that I give people. I have affirmations that I teach, visualization techniques and also shifting the vibration of your general frequency. So like rule number three in my book, is. Can happiness buy you money so you and this is this may sound really weird, but for those people who want to level up and they're worried and fearful and they may have these limiting beliefs, I tell them to pretend more, spend more time daydreaming, on purpose of what you want your life to look like. You know, in abundance now, spending more time with doing what you love for as much time as you want to do it with the ones you love, where you love, doing it all that, and really getting into the feeling, visualizing it. And then I teach acting as if you know, acting as if what you want to happen has already happened. How can you do that? You already have a business, generating seven figures, generating a million dollars. What would you do? You know? What charity do you give to? What splurge do you make this month? Maybe you've been really wanting that blue convertible Maserati Gran Turismo that goes from zero to 60 and 5.3 seconds and is semi autonomous and as a 454, v8 engine, and it just it's going to light you up. So put the, you know, go, go, take a test drive, like touch it, feel it, act as if it's about to come right? So what other things can you do to act as if, maybe you're, you know, you have a million dollar business. You got to hire three people. You have a

Joel Salomon:

you're going to hire a virtual assistant. You're going to hire your website guy full time, or website woman full time you got to, you know, plan it out. When I started my hedge funds, one of the things investors wanted to see was a plan three to five years out. This was my acting as if, right. I had all the boxes filled, you know, I already had a Chief Financial Officer, but I had three analysts. I had a marketing person. I had, you know, obviously service providers, like my lawyer and accountant, auditor, but you know, here's the assets on the management I have three years out, right? And here's what the P and L looks like, the profit and loss, hopefully more profit, the profit looks like, you know, three years out, right? And doing all that. So spend more time pretending right, when, when, if you're if you're in this Oh, am I really worth it? Look at what the future could look like. And also think about how you are living your purpose and how you're helping humanity. Right? You're going to hire three or four or five new people who now they're providing, you know, a living for their families, you know, and that that you're creating an economy. And think about all the good you're doing by having a business and helping other people, the service providers, all that. So thinking a little bit more broadly really helps. I think, when you have these limiting beliefs around am I really worth it? You know you're, you're, what I tell my psychic and and Reiki Master is, you're doing the world, the disservice you're doing the world, the disservice by not making more money, by not earning more because if you're earning more, you can help more people, and that's why you came into business, right? And so a lot of of the people I help are not visible as visible as you are, Mark, so I push them to get out there more, because if they're not getting out there, visibility equals vulnerability, right? And so they're feeling more vulnerable if they get out there. But

Joel Salomon:

I push them to get out there because I'm like, Look, you're not helping the people you should be helping if you're hiding and they can't find you. So you need to get out there more. You need to do more social media, you need to do more outreach. Most of my clients come to me and they don't do any outreach. Actually met a potential client a few months ago, Speaker coach, and we were talking, and he's he said, Yeah, I'm doing okay. And I said, so how do you get your clients? And he said, they, you know, I go to JV directory and I market those who come to me through JV directory, and I mark it on my website. And I said, What do you mean by market? He said, well, people come to my website. I have all the landing pages and I have all that. I said, Do you ever reach out to anybody. Do you ever call anybody? Do you ever do social media? He's like, no, no. You know, I do my speaking. And then people come to me, and I was like, wow, how do you have a business so well, I'm making 50 to 75,000 a year, US dollars. I was like, Oh, okay. Well, I think I can get you to four times. That pretty easily by just becoming more visible. And that's a very common thing with all these spiritual entrepreneurs, is they're not doing they're not getting out there into the world.

Mark Porteous:

But even having a clear offer, I've talked to many other people who love to speak, but they don't want to make an offer from stage. They just want to talk about what they're doing. And then people come to that. Come to them. And I like the attraction, the magnetism you and I talk about that, and part of that is an energetic exchange, where you want to be able to reach out to people too and really ask for the sale. Be able to reach out to somebody that, again, somebody that was on the networking. Don't just expect them to reach out to you, just like at any networking event. You want to make sure that you're getting their information and that you're taking the responsibility now to follow up with them and say, because if they if they've raised their hand, there's some interest. But yeah, that, I love your encouraging people to step out of their comfort zones.

Joel Salomon:

Yeah, it's the equitable exchange of energy is really important. And I find, yeah, I give the analogy. So the Reiki master chart is charging $50 an hour. I mean this, I say, I said to her, this is a hobby. This is not a business, right? You need to have a program you need to have. You know, something else an hour

Mark Porteous:

sounds fantastic if you're working 40 hours a week and like, oh yes, that's a but that's not what the old businesses isn't doing, that you have the marketing, all the other stuff. And even with that, like you said, you're always you're working dollars for hours

Joel Salomon:

And you can't you're trading time for money. And I told her, what she's doing is life changing, and it's priceless, and so you need to be charging a lot more and have a program, right? Because, if Yeah, you're just trading time for money, and you're working, you know, 40 hours, 2000 2000 Yeah, if you have 40 different clients, yes, but no one has 40 different clients a week. Pretty sure

Mark Porteous:

Burn them out, if they did in that structure like what you're just talking about, is there's a way to scale it without it taking more time, more energy, but to be able to make a greater impact, reach more people without it having to take more from you, right?

Joel Salomon:

And when I say when someone's charging 40, $50 an hour, I had a yoga teacher just told me she she was working with the company, and they told her, you can only charge $100 and you know, there's 10 people in the room that the studio is charging probably $200 a person, right? So they're making $2,000 and the yoga teacher, who they're coming for, is only make it 100 it's just and so what I told her, and what I told the Reiki Master, is an it's an inequitable exchange of energy, right? You're making huge differences in people's lives. It's like, go back 3000 years ago. You're the cow farmer, and you want a chicken, so you get a chicken from the chicken farmer and and you give them 12 cows. It's just an inequitable exchange. And so that's what's going on when you're charging $50 for your Reiki, and the person's getting healed, right? And they don't ever have to go back to a doctor, right, and in an hour or two, right? That's life changing, and yet you're charging $50 worth.

Mark Porteous:

So for someone who is listening right now and feels stuck financially despite doing all the right things, what's one practice or reframe they can begin using today to start moving towards that financial freedom?

Joel Salomon:

Yeah, so I would say, here's something simple. When you have a limiting belief, a thought that's, oh, I can't afford that. Or, you know, rich people are different than me, you know, stop, cancel, clear. Get the fear out of here. So you want to reframe that thought. And you could use the other F word, I'm not going to judge, stop, cancel, clear, get the f out of here. And then reframe, you know, think about something happy, some some celebration, something that happened in your life in the past, and then think that thought, right? So you want to get away from this low vibration, fear based, worry based thought, to a higher vibration. You can do that quickly with stop, cancel, clear, get the fear out of here.

Mark Porteous:

That's beautiful. Again, something really practical, easy to use. And again, I know you've got other tools that are available. I'm curious, because, again, we are talking about leading with purpose. That's the name of the show. You're talking about, Reiki healers and all of these, these people that are up to big things, and you helping them to shift the beliefs. I'm just curious for you that what is leading with purpose mean to you.

Joel Salomon:

So I'm actually writing a book right now called your path to purpose and prosperity, which. The purpose coach. And for me, it's, it's doing what you love, figuring out what really lights you up. And if you're leading with purpose, you're doing your purpose. And it's not your servant, right? And, and, and making sure you get an equitable exchange of energy for that, but you're leading from a place of, I want to serve, I want to help. And so there's a, there's a book I read in last couple of years called give and Grow Rich, get the author. Take off on, Think and Grow Rich, of course. And but yeah, I mean, I think it's like, okay, what gifts do I have that I can give to others in a short amount of time? Provide some value, and then, you know, I believe you'll, you'll get that back. So rule number six, actually, and that I money rules millionaires use, is giving right, the law of generous giving. And so I practice that. But if you're, if you're, you're leading with purpose, you're leading from your heart, you're leading from service, and you're doing what you love. Because I love helping others. I love changing people's money mindset, and I also love investing, right? And so teaching or giving people the ability to compound their money quicker, as well, as, you know, changing that mindset and having them believe that that's possible. Because, you know, in the InVEST smart engine this year's few people joined in May when I started it, and they more than doubled their money this year, but they believe that that was possible. Right again, back to what we started the show with, is belief, right? And so you know, leading with purpose and believing that that's possible, that what you what you're doing, is changing lives, and you can change lives, and Heaven, get paid a proper amount for that.

Mark Porteous:

I love that. I love that you just mentioned one of the other principles from your book, around giving. This time of year, you know where the holidays and whatever holiday you might be celebrating, a lot of it is around giving, and it feels good to give, but sometimes people feel like I have nothing to give, or they're giving their gifts too freely. But in this time, when you feel like you have nothing to mean giving and finding ways to be able to give help to feel and to degenerate an exchange of receiving.

Joel Salomon:

Yeah, actually, it's really interesting. I think this, along with belief, I think giving may be among top one or two most powerful rules of the nine money rules millionaire shoes because I had a client two, three years ago who's really stuck in low vibration minds that just really worried and fearful about his money situation. And one of the techniques I gave him was to just start giving more tip more, right, appreciate others more and and it just completely changed his his viewpoint. I said, Look, you're living the dream life of 99% of this world, right? There are billions of people that would love to trade plays with you, even on school one day. And so how can you provide you know a little bit. You know, it doesn't just have to be about money. Either. Everyone has gifts and talents they can share with the world. But I would say, find a charity that really aligns with you. And when some surprise money, you manifest some money, put it back out there. And for him, it just completely changed his his prosperity mindset, his money mindset, and so we started working in June, June together, we had a full year. And in December, around this time of year, around, actually, I think it was Christmas day, he went around to the bus stops in his town, and he gave $100 to everyone standing in a bus now, because he figured those people who aren't Christmas, who need to take a bus probably need some help. And I was just like, wow, that was just amazing. From him hoarding in June to Christmas Day, giving out, you know, some monies like that was just a big shift, and so and that, and then, I don't think coincidentally, but the next year was his, he had dramatically better business revenue generation. And I just like for me, I didn't, I have an example for my first book, mindful money management. When I wrote that book, I I figured out the Amazon algorithm to get it to be number one for the first weekend. So it's number one best seller, you know, you know,

Joel Salomon:

whatever was 99 cents or free Kindle for a period to get it to officially number one. And then, but not a lot of book sales actually died. Dollars sold, right revenue generation. And so I live, you know, 45 minutes from Manhattan. I would go, this was 2018 I would go into Manhattan. I said, Hey, well, I just like, bring a book every time I go, and I'll give a book away. So I and I'm like, there's not much sales, but I really believe there's some good stuff in this book, and hopefully it'll help somebody. So I would find somebody and say, Hey, do you like to read? Here's my book. And I did that for like three weeks. I might gave like, 2030, books away, and about four or five weeks after, sales started increasing. And I didn't do it to improve the sales. I did it because I really wanted to help others. And I'm like, well, the book's not selling. Let's just give some away. And but I think that the more you give, the more like you're opening yourself up, you're creating flow for money. And this kind of energy I teach is hoarding or being a protectionist, which is one of the seven money per side types of my last book, infinite love of money. If you're a protectionist and you're just like, I'm not giving any money, I'm putting it under the mattress, I'm hoarding, then you're not creating flow. And the more you create flow, the more money will come back to you. So I think that's what's going on in general, absolutely.

Mark Porteous:

And so again, the name of the name of the book is the nine money rules millionaires use. They can. We'll put the links down below. Is there any other last words that you'd like to share with anybody that's listening before we go off for the holidays? I'm excited again. It might be post holidays by the time people are listening to this, or they're listening to it in the future. But really the idea of shifting abundance. What's the final thought you'd like to leave people with?

Joel Salomon:

I think the final thought is hashtag, doubt the doubt. Have have faith in the dream. Don't have faith in your doubt. Doubt your doubt. You know. Doubts are going to come up in your business. Doubts are going to come up in your your money life at times, and realize that if you have faith in the dream and doubt your doubt, don't have faith in the doubt that you can live the dream.

Mark Porteous:
