Jennifer, welcome to the destined for
Jennifer Takagi:success podcast. I'm your host, Jennifer Takagi, and this
Jennifer Takagi:podcast used to be called new manager media manage ride from
Jennifer Takagi:the start, many of the concepts are the same, but there's a
Jennifer Takagi:little shift. There's a shift, because I know we are all
Jennifer Takagi:destined for success, and I want to help you find the fastest,
Jennifer Takagi:smoothest way to reach your highest best as quickly as
Jennifer Takagi:possible. Join me in today's episode where you're going to
Jennifer Takagi:come up with new ways to build your skills and influence others
Jennifer Takagi:to make the impact you desire to make. I look forward to
Jennifer Takagi:connecting with you soon. Welcome to Destin for success.
Jennifer Takagi:I'm your host, Jennifer Takagi, and in this episode, I want to
Jennifer Takagi:follow up on last week's episode with Tessa, when I asked for
Jennifer Takagi:guidance on following up with a potential client. So I want to
Jennifer Takagi:back up just a tiny bit and talk about a lead magnet. So if
Jennifer Takagi:you've been an entrepreneur for a while, you probably know what
Jennifer Takagi:a lead magnet is. If you're not an entrepreneur, you may not if
Jennifer Takagi:you're an entrepreneur and you're like, Oh, I kind of know
Jennifer Takagi:what one is. But like, how does that work? What's the problem? I
Jennifer Takagi:don't get it. So a lead magnet is you want a lead you want
Jennifer Takagi:possible clients, you want people to come into your orbit
Jennifer Takagi:that are interested in what you have to offer. They're in your
Jennifer Takagi:orbit, and when they give you your their email, bam, they're
Jennifer Takagi:now lead. So a lead magnet is something you can offer that
Jennifer Takagi:magnetizes that potentially ideal client to you. Now they're
Jennifer Takagi:in your world, and now you can work with them. Now, what have I
Jennifer Takagi:done and what have other entrepreneurs done that was like
Jennifer Takagi:the kiss of death? Kiss of Death, collect someone's email,
Jennifer Takagi:give them that enticing, amazing thing you created for them, I
Jennifer Takagi:created for them, and then never follow up. What never follow up.
Jennifer Takagi:Is it just me, or is it you, too? If you have put something
Jennifer Takagi:out there, and somebody has trusted you enough to give you
Jennifer Takagi:their email address, which is like, you know, personal
Jennifer Takagi:information, basically, you better follow up. You have to
Jennifer Takagi:follow up with them. Keep them enticed, keep them in your
Jennifer Takagi:orbit, keep them in your world. So I met a woman at an event,
Jennifer Takagi:and another woman who is a friend slash colleague slash
Jennifer Takagi:client of mine had told this woman about me and said, You
Jennifer Takagi:have to get to know Jennifer Takagi. She is amazing. She's
Jennifer Takagi:magical. She like she is it? And I was like, Oh my gosh, thanks
Jennifer Takagi:so much. Referrals are the best. They are the best. So I meet
Jennifer Takagi:this woman at a dinner, and we didn't, I mean, you know, there
Jennifer Takagi:are multiple people there. You don't really get to connect that
Jennifer Takagi:much. And fast forward, I have started in the growth day app.
Jennifer Takagi:If you don't have it, let me know. I can get you an affiliate
Jennifer Takagi:link. I can get paid for you signing up with growth day, and
Jennifer Takagi:I'll, oh, I'll put my link in the in the show notes, so you
Jennifer Takagi:can just go ahead and register in growth day, I have started
Jennifer Takagi:doing a bi weekly meetup. And a meetup is kind of a little bit
Jennifer Takagi:like a Zoom Room, but they have complete control over it, and so
Jennifer Takagi:you say what you want to talk about, or what you're going to
Jennifer Takagi:talk about, and people can register. So I've been doing
Jennifer Takagi:this every other week since the end of July, and what I do in
Jennifer Takagi:there is I share with the audience about heart walls,
Jennifer Takagi:which are trapped emotions on your heart, keeping you from
Jennifer Takagi:connecting more deeply with others. You showing love to
Jennifer Takagi:them, and you receiving the love that they are trying to bestow
Jennifer Takagi:upon you. So this same woman from that dinner at that event
Jennifer Takagi:pops in to my meetup group. Sometimes I'll. Have a couple
Jennifer Takagi:people in my meetup group, and sometimes I have 10, almost
Jennifer Takagi:1314, people. It's amazing. I love doing it. It's a Community
Jennifer Takagi:Give Back. So she shows up in there, and afterwards, she
Jennifer Takagi:reaches out, because at the dinner, we had exchanged phone
Jennifer Takagi:numbers, and she was like, oh, Jennifer, like, I want to work
Jennifer Takagi:with you. And I had a little special going, and she signed up
Jennifer Takagi:for this special and we were going to do three sessions. So
Jennifer Takagi:we get to the end of the second session, and I said, Hey, the
Jennifer Takagi:next session is your last one, and I just want you to know that
Jennifer Takagi:when we finish that session, I will be sharing with you how we
Jennifer Takagi:could continue to work together, if you would like to do that.
Jennifer Takagi:And she said, Oh my gosh, yes. I was like, awesome. How fun is
Jennifer Takagi:that? So the third session together. At the end, I said,
Jennifer Takagi:All right, I wanted to tell you how you could work with me, and
Jennifer Takagi:this is how you can work with me, and she said, Okay, great,
Jennifer Takagi:send me an invoice. What like that was easy, breezy, Cover
Jennifer Takagi:Girl, I'm feeling good about this. So I, I, I didn't have an
Jennifer Takagi:invoice. I'm just gonna be honest, I didn't have one. So I
Jennifer Takagi:had to create an invoice. I create the invoice and I get it
Jennifer Takagi:sent over to her. No, I don't. I did not. I did not even create
Jennifer Takagi:the invoice. Let me back that up a minute, beep, beep, beep, back
Jennifer Takagi:up, back up. She said, Send me an invoice. And I said, Great. A
Jennifer Takagi:week passed, a week she could have forgotten my name in a
Jennifer Takagi:week, and in a week, she texted me and said, Hey, Jennifer, I
Jennifer Takagi:never got that invoice. Would you send it over again? Well,
Jennifer Takagi:crap, you didn't get the invoice because I didn't make the
Jennifer Takagi:invoice. Like, what that is, really bad. Follow up, ladies
Jennifer Takagi:and gentlemen. Do not be me. Be better. Be better. So I create
Jennifer Takagi:the invoice, and I send it to her that same day, like, okay,
Jennifer Takagi:she wants me, so I'm gonna give her a way to pay me, right? So
Jennifer Takagi:let's get some more sessions on the books. So I'm waiting and
Jennifer Takagi:waiting, and I have that little Chitty chat chat with Tessa on
Jennifer Takagi:my patapalooza interview, and she's talking about making
Jennifer Takagi:sales. And I said, Well, I have a real life problem, and I
Jennifer Takagi:shared with the audience. And if you caught that episode, you
Jennifer Takagi:heard it too about this situation with this potential
Jennifer Takagi:client, client that's already given me money and now wants to
Jennifer Takagi:work with me further. I said, How do I follow up? I have her
Jennifer Takagi:phone number. Do I text her? Do I send her an email like, what
Jennifer Takagi:do I do? Tessa said, Send a voice note so she hears your
Jennifer Takagi:voice, she hears that you're interested, and it will be much
Jennifer Takagi:more personal than even a text message would be. And I was
Jennifer Takagi:like, All right, I got it. I will do this. So that was a very
Jennifer Takagi:long day, by the way, that day of patapalooza, and I can't
Jennifer Takagi:remember if I did it that night or the next morning, but I sent
Jennifer Takagi:the gal a text message and did everything Tessa told me, and
Jennifer Takagi:she texted back and said, Oh, like you told me how much it
Jennifer Takagi:would cost, but I just don't know that I can do that. I
Jennifer Takagi:don't, I don't think I can afford it right now. I said,
Jennifer Takagi:Okay, great. Do you want to hop on a call and see if we can make
Jennifer Takagi:something work? And she goes, Yeah, because I really want you.
Jennifer Takagi:I really need you. And I was like, okay, great, we get on the
Jennifer Takagi:call. And I was willing to negotiate with her. So instead
Jennifer Takagi:of signing up for a whole year, I gave her the option to sign up
Jennifer Takagi:for six months. And in doing this six months, I didn't, I
Jennifer Takagi:didn't do what you often do. And if it's this price, and you do
Jennifer Takagi:for half as long, it's actually more than just 50% I just cut it
Jennifer Takagi:flat and 50% and I said, six months, 50% this is it. And she
Jennifer Takagi:goes, Great, send me that invoice, and I'll pay it. And
Jennifer Takagi:believe you, me, I did not let dust settle under my feet, or
Jennifer Takagi:grass grow, or whatever, the whatever analogy story you want
Jennifer Takagi:to use, and I got her an invoice, and lo and behold, she
Jennifer Takagi:paid it. And we've been working together ever since, and it has
Jennifer Takagi:been really great for me and really great for her. And you
Jennifer Takagi:have to follow up. That's the whole point. You have to follow
Jennifer Takagi:up. And if somebody wants your services,
Jennifer Takagi:please respond immediately. Put. Please get them an invoice
Jennifer Takagi:immediately, because of that experience and and knowing I
Jennifer Takagi:needed to follow up immediately, I had another client, and we had
Jennifer Takagi:had a one on one training, and at the end she said, How can I
Jennifer Takagi:work with you? And I said, Oh, this way or this way? And she
Jennifer Takagi:goes, Oh, I want that way. I had recently raised my price for
Jennifer Takagi:that, but I hadn't gotten it updated everywhere on my
Jennifer Takagi:website, so I had to go in and update the pricing so that when
Jennifer Takagi:she got the invoice, it would have the proper price. But guess
Jennifer Takagi:what I did that quickly? And guess what she paid the invoice?
Jennifer Takagi:Tessa, if you're listening, I did what you said, girlfriend, I
Jennifer Takagi:did it, and it worked. And I got two paid clients pretty quickly
Jennifer Takagi:because I took action. They knew they wanted me. They knew they
Jennifer Takagi:wanted to work with me. One asked for a little different
Jennifer Takagi:way, and I was willing to negotiate. And then next one
Jennifer Takagi:said, Send me the invoice. I'll pay. So the point of this is, if
Jennifer Takagi:you want clients, you have to follow up. I heard someone say,
Jennifer Takagi:in the last, I don't know how many ever months I don't really
Jennifer Takagi:want to make money, I just want to help people. Now let me
Jennifer Takagi:debunk that really quickly. The more money you make, the more
Jennifer Takagi:people you can help, and the bigger impact you will have in
Jennifer Takagi:the world. There is no shame in sharing your gifts and talents
Jennifer Takagi:with the world. It's your God given duty to do so, yeah, there
Jennifer Takagi:is my story right there. I am. Jennifer Takagi. I look forward
