E 256: Healing Beyond Symptoms: Kristen Renee’s 12-Step Framework for Mind-Body Wellness

E 256: Healing Beyond Symptoms: Kristen Renee’s 12-Step Framework for Mind-Body Wellness

In this powerful and heart-centered episode, I’m joined by Kristen Renee, a three-time author and holistic healing guide, for a deeply meaningful conversation about reclaiming health, wealth, and purpose after years of chronic illness and personal transformation.

Kristen shares her decade-long journey navigating autoimmune challenges—an experience that ultimately led her to create her 12-part foundational framework designed to help individuals reconnect with their bodies, heal from the inside out, and rebuild their lives with intention. Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, Kristen invites us to see the body as a communicator—one that offers wisdom, signals, and guidance when we’re willing to listen.

Throughout our conversation, we explore the powerful interconnectedness of physical health, emotional well-being, mindset, and environment. Kristen speaks openly about the role of self-love, boundaries, nervous system support, and reconnecting with nature as essential components of sustainable healing. This episode is a reminder that true wellness isn’t about quick fixes—it’s about alignment, awareness, and honoring your own inner truth.

Speaker A

Good afternoon, everybody.

Speaker A

Welcome back to another adult episode of Adult Child of Dysfunction.

Speaker A

This is actually the last one.

Speaker A

We're recording for 2025, so this is exciting.

Speaker A

Getting ready to jump into a new year, new season, new whatever, new beginnings.

Speaker A

So today we have with us a very special guest.

Speaker A

Her name is Kristen Renee.

Speaker A

She's a three time author and guide who spent a decade learning to heal her autoimmune which became the catalyst for her purpose and addressing her past.

Speaker A

Through understanding the body burnout and financial and workplace well being.

Speaker A

She created a 12 part foundational framework to help people reclaim, reclaim health, wealth and purpose.

Speaker A

I absolutely love that.

Speaker A

It sounds so, so good.

Speaker A

Welcome Kristin.

Speaker B

Thank you.

Speaker B

Thank you so much.

Speaker A

Yeah, so I'm just going to jump right in because first of all, when I was like 12 part framework that sounds like work.

Speaker A

So I want to hear about it, I want to hear your version of it because I always hear that word work and I'm like, oh no, that's, that's the problem.

Speaker A

Nobody wants to do the work but.

Speaker B

Frame play.

Speaker A

Yeah, but it's, I'm sure, because your whole, our whole goal in life as coaches and mentors and, and guides or whatever we are is to help people simplify the steps that we went through that you probably took 10, 10 to 15 to 20 years going through and now you're here to simplify it.

Speaker A

But talk about how you, let's just talk.

Speaker A

Go jump right into your 12 step framework.

Speaker A

What's it all about?

Speaker B

Yeah, essentially when I had autoimmune, I'll try to make this as fast as I, when I was diagnosed with autoimmune, I was trying everything right every at the time.

Speaker B

Everything was pointing towards testing gut, gut, gut, gut, gut, gut, you know, elimination diet.

Speaker B

And it would keep it at bay longer and longer, but it would always return and usually under stressful conditions.

Speaker B

And so, you know, and I had a wonderful rheumatologist, but I was the one that was like, this isn't going to be my life sentence.

Speaker B

I just know it.

Speaker B

This isn't resonating, this isn't my story.

Speaker B

And, and you know, I told him I'm going to try all these other things.

Speaker B

And I eventually weaned off what he had me on, but it took 10 years of trying.

Speaker B

You know, I was trying all the fancy protocols, I spent obscene amounts of money and I finally had this and it would come back and I'd have, you know, from my ankle to my eye inflammation and you know, would become more and more debilitating all the While I kept my, like, very stressful lifestyle, hustle, social, running.

Speaker B

If I.

Speaker B

If my knee would allow it or ankle would allow it, like, I never could slow down.

Speaker B

I thought meditating was a waste of time.

Speaker B

I was that girl.

Speaker B

So I finally had this knowing in me, like, I need to reduce some financial stress and I need to change my life and I can't have all these distractions.

Speaker B

And the quote by Joe Dispenza, which I learned later, is, you can't heal during the same things in the same place, the same whatever that got you in that mess in the first place.

Speaker B

And I didn't even know that quote, but I just had this inner knowing, which I kind of love.

Speaker B

This journey is that I just followed what I knew.

Speaker B

And then I read the books later and I was like, that's right, that's right.

Speaker B

So I, to the dismay of everyone, was like, I'm selling my house and I'm moving.

Speaker B

And they're like, what are you doing?

Speaker B

This is a terrible financial decision.

Speaker B

But I'm like, you don't live live like me.

Speaker B

You don't live with a stuck arm.

Speaker B

You don't live with a blown up knee.

Speaker B

You don't go to the ophthalmologist every single week to monitor your eye.

Speaker B

You don't know what I go through every day.

Speaker B

So I'm gonna do this for me.

Speaker B

And to the, you know, my parents didn't love it, fought me on it, didn't say nice things, you know, sorry, tmi, but I did it and I moved and I told my company, like, either I'm gonna work remotely or I'm resigning.

Speaker B

And I just like, KE these things.

Speaker B

And finally was like, signaling to my body, I'm choosing myself.

Speaker B

And I eventually resigned from the job after a panic attack.

Speaker B

And I moved to the mountains and I worked with a coach to, like, address trauma.

Speaker B

And I was doing all these things, slowing down, rebalancing.

Speaker B

So I started writing about it because I was healing in real time.

Speaker B

Like, while I was driving, I healed my eye.

Speaker B

Never had eye inflammation again.

Speaker B

When I quit my job, I healed my arm.

Speaker B

I mean, I had real fast results from these big life changes.

Speaker B

And when I was writing about it, my first book, I was like, wait, I did so many things all at once.

Speaker B

What was the root cause?

Speaker B

I mean, I removed my root canal.

Speaker B

You name it, I have done it.

Speaker B

And so I was like, wait, maybe that was bad.

Speaker B

I did too many things, and now I don't know what it was.

Speaker B

No.

Speaker B

And I sat back, I'm like, it was all those things.

Speaker B

And so, you know, you.

Speaker B

Not everyone's going to just blow up their life like I did to just, you know, I was so done.

Speaker B

How do you put all these shifts into words?

Speaker B

How do you, like, explain all these steps I took?

Speaker B

Because really what it was was reviewing my lifestyle, reviewing my patterns, reviewing my thoughts and my words, reviewing my environment and making those shifts in my life.

Speaker B

That's what the healing was.

Speaker B

It wasn't necessarily quitting the job.

Speaker B

It was finding my purpose.

Speaker B

You know, it wasn't necessarily moving states.

Speaker B

It was choosing myself for the first time or finally listening, like seeing my body as a communicator and signals rather than attacking me, as they say, or against me.

Speaker B

My body was completely guiding and saying, like, christiva, slow down.

Speaker B

Like, what are you doing?

Speaker B

For all sorts of.

Speaker B

So it was all those shifts.

Speaker B

So really the framework, for lack of a better term, is just all the basics, right?

Speaker B

I needed.

Speaker B

I did not have a healthy foundation.

Speaker B

Let's just put it bluntly.

Speaker B

I didn't have great examples.

Speaker B

I, you know, so it's.

Speaker B

I, how do you connect with your body?

Speaker B

How do you eat and drink the right things, but also send the right emotions down when you're doing that, right, how do you rebalance?

Speaker B

How do you connect with nature?

Speaker B

Um, organize your house, clean where you live, in your environment?

Speaker B

Like, how do you control the con things that you can control to help impact what's happening internally?

Speaker B

So that's really, it's.

Speaker B

It's really rebuilding a healthy foundation is the way I like to put it.

Speaker B

It's like, let's, let's get those basics in order and, you know, witness the change and the shifts from that.

Speaker B

And then you can add on all the fancy stuff.

Speaker B

But that's, it's more just.

Speaker B

Let's really dig into the basics, right?

Speaker A

And there are some very, very, very big basics, like just getting enough sleep or, you know, hydration things that people don't think about that have such a big effect on everything, their cognition and I mean, everything.

Speaker A

And sometimes you.

Speaker A

Yeah, go ahead.

Speaker B

That was.

Speaker B

The thing is understanding it was all connected.

Speaker B

It's not just about, you know, I was going to specialists for all different parts of my body or the specialist for my gut or the specialist here.

Speaker B

And I was treating my body as completely separate.

Speaker B

And it was once that, aha.

Speaker B

Moments are like, oh, I quit my job and now my arm's moving.

Speaker B

So like I could see in real time.

Speaker B

Your mind and your body are very connected.

Speaker B

And just like your past is connected to what's happening in your body.

Speaker B

If you haven't addressed it, or living in survival or hustle or with limiting beliefs, all those things are what's happening.

Speaker B

You know, your body is just.

Speaker B

I liken it to.

Speaker B

Your body's trying to communicate it as best it can.

Speaker B

Like a dog.

Speaker B

Like, right, my dog's peed on my bed one time when he was mad at me that I went out.

Speaker A

So.

Speaker B

So my body is, like, trying to get my attention is the way I see it.

Speaker B

And it's like a way more fun way to live, to realize that it's here to help you rather than, you know, it's not fighting you.

Speaker A

Right.

Speaker A

And just.

Speaker A

And listen.

Speaker A

Just listening to it is the most important part to begin with.

Speaker A

I remember I had a client, and she was like, I don't understand.

Speaker A

Like, she said, literally, tammy, I look like I'm nine months pregnant.

Speaker A

She had this big blow, and she's like, I feel like I'm nine months pregnant.

Speaker A

I just am so bloated.

Speaker A

I'm doing everything right.

Speaker A

I'm hydrating, I'm doing this, I'm doing that.

Speaker A

The doctors have me on all these medications and everything else.

Speaker A

And she left her husband, and within three days, she had a normal body.

Speaker A

I was like, totally.

Speaker A

Wow.

Speaker B

And I think sometimes when you just say, hey, why don't you slow down, connect, sit with your body?

Speaker B

Like, you might get those messages right away of, oh, I needed.

Speaker B

That's what I needed.

Speaker B

You know, I. I'm.

Speaker B

I definitely had a moment where my whole body was like, you need to break up with this person or whatever it is, but you have to slow down instead of, like, fighting it to.

Speaker B

To know what that guidance is or what you need to truly need to do.

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker A

Especially when we grew up in that.

Speaker A

Being pushed through to not listen.

Speaker A

Because that's the.

Speaker A

That's the hardest thing is usually, you know, you would.

Speaker A

You know, I mean, even as a little kid, you get that gut feeling, that clench in your gut.

Speaker A

But you're taught, don't worry about it.

Speaker A

Don't worry about it.

Speaker A

Well, you should worry about it.

Speaker A

Your body, like you said, it's a signaling machine.

Speaker A

It's not.

Speaker A

It's not there to hurt you.

Speaker B

But talk about the times you're told, like, don't cry or you're too emotional.

Speaker B

I was the sensitive one.

Speaker B

You know, I was told to stop crying or stop feeling or stop.

Speaker B

You know, And I think a lot of that contributed to where I ended up not blaming anyone.

Speaker B

I really love my path now, and I. I know it Was all for a reason.

Speaker B

But yeah, all those times we're told to suppress it and ignore it, it's still there.

Speaker B

Yeah.

Speaker A

And absolutely.

Speaker A

And I probably reference at least once a week.

Speaker A

The Body keeps score.

Speaker A

You know, that book and just how things are and the fact that people out there listening are like, you even made a comment like before, like, oh my gosh, I had nothing, nothing compared to what this person went through.

Speaker A

But I tell people, everybody's different, everybody reacts.

Speaker A

So like, you're horrible.

Speaker A

Even though on paper it might not look as horrible as somebody else's, it doesn't matter.

Speaker A

It changed the way you look at the world.

Speaker A

So you're horrible as.

Speaker A

You're horrible.

Speaker A

So somebody else's heart, you know, they might live in this perfect world in this quote unquote and seemingly look so good, but somebody, something somebody says to them in second grade literally crushes them to the point where it changes the way they look at themselves and the rest of the world.

Speaker A

So those things have to be dealt with.

Speaker A

But for the people out there listening, what would you talk about?

Speaker A

What would you tell them are like, you talk a lot about like connecting the dots and, and how you can see.

Speaker A

What are some symptoms that people are wondering, like, maybe, maybe I need to go back to the basics.

Speaker A

What are some symptoms that you notice?

Speaker B

I'd honestly say it's.

Speaker B

And because I went through this, you know, I.

Speaker B

With trauma when you're younger, I basically lived out of my body.

Speaker B

I don't remember anything until second grade.

Speaker B

So I had a pattern of.

Speaker B

I learned this later through, you know, specialists.

Speaker B

But when I was like, oh, I have no memory, she's like, no, you probably blacked it out.

Speaker B

And so I realized it became a pattern of disconnecting, disassociating.

Speaker B

You live only from the neck up.

Speaker B

And I didn't realize that until, you know, right when I was hitting this all head on with.

Speaker B

I worked with an intuitive coach.

Speaker B

And that moment when you're like, oh my gosh, I've lived my whole life in my head, I can't feel into my heart.

Speaker B

I have no imagination because it hasn't been safe to even do that because I've lived my whole life in survival.

Speaker B

Because I've lived my whole life for four, 40 years in fight or flight, it's like, it's was the most shocking moment of my life.

Speaker B

I'd say to wake up from that and like, oh, not everyone lives in fear and worst case scenario and survival.

Speaker B

So I guess to answer your question is can you feel into Your heart.

Speaker B

Can you sit still for a moment?

Speaker B

Can you actually send awareness into your heart?

Speaker B

Like, are you connected to the feeling side or are you just kind of in survival and living from your neck up and just in the thinking rather than the feeling?

Speaker B

You know, I remember I was trying to get more into spirituality and the first step is like, being in your heart.

Speaker B

And I was like, I can't.

Speaker B

You know, it's like all those moments that you're like, oh, wait, I should be able to, you know, I should have an imagination.

Speaker B

And it.

Speaker B

It all kind of clicked, like, oh, that's why I couldn't even figure out a major in college.

Speaker B

I was still in survival.

Speaker B

I couldn't think about what my dream life would be.

Speaker B

And I was like, in awe of these people are like, you know, your major, you know, your major at high school.

Speaker B

I'm trying to just live.

Speaker B

And so, yeah, I think it's, you know, my biggest one is connecting with your body and loving it.

Speaker B

If there's a part that hurts, send it more love.

Speaker B

No matter where the pain is, you know, you can start.

Speaker B

I help people kind of learn maybe why that pain is there, or people keep re injuring a certain place in their body.

Speaker B

There might be a meaning behind it.

Speaker B

So just learning to like, send that place extra love.

Speaker B

Send that, you know, send it more awareness.

Speaker B

Send it love, tell it it's healing.

Speaker B

Change your language.

Speaker B

Like, hey, hey.

Speaker B

You know, I used to hate my knee.

Speaker B

It was my bad knee and I changed my language.

Speaker B

It's like, it's just my communicating knee.

Speaker B

So it's just like, you know, turning it around.

Speaker B

And, you know, our bodies are.

Speaker B

It's our friend.

Speaker A

So I'm gonna.

Speaker A

I'm not gonna put you on the spot, but maybe a little bit.

Speaker A

Because when you said get into your heart, talk about if you can't.

Speaker A

Because I remember the first time I went to a therapist and they were like, well, what?

Speaker A

How does that make you feel?

Speaker A

And I'm like, what does that even mean?

Speaker A

Like, what is that?

Speaker A

Like, I don't feel I was the same way.

Speaker A

And I still to this day, I'm a big dissociator.

Speaker A

It just is what.

Speaker A

How I kind of learned to block off the things I didn't like.

Speaker A

But yeah, you get to the point where now it's a.

Speaker A

It's a habit of just, bam, staying in your mind.

Speaker A

But how would you recommend to someone that is like, oh, yeah, I get it.

Speaker A

I don't.

Speaker A

I don't have joy.

Speaker A

I don't feel things in my heart.

Speaker A

I just kind of go through the motions.

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker A

What are some suggestions you would make to people to start practicing that?

Speaker A

And what if.

Speaker A

If that makes sense.

Speaker B

Yeah.

Speaker B

And that's kind of why I created the framework, because I want you to, like, I want to help people bring these slowly into their life every day.

Speaker B

So I kind of take those, like, high levels.

Speaker B

But, like, how do you really do it?

Speaker B

Right.

Speaker B

Like, because we've lived it.

Speaker B

So, like, one woman taught me.

Speaker B

I have a few tricks.

Speaker B

So one was, you know, throughout the day, it's kind of like going to the gym, right.

Speaker B

For a body part.

Speaker B

But try to send, like, kind of imagine, like an elevator internally.

Speaker B

And really try to send your awareness into your heart.

Speaker B

And it might just be, like, half a millisecond that you're there and then you're back up.

Speaker B

And.

Speaker B

But you, you know, try to walk around and do it ten times a day.

Speaker B

Like, let me walk into the kitchen.

Speaker B

Let me try to see if I can go down the elevator.

Speaker B

You know, envision it past your nose, past your.

Speaker B

Through your throat into your heart.

Speaker B

But you have to work at it and work at it.

Speaker B

And it now I, like, love it, and I, like.

Speaker B

It's so cool.

Speaker B

And your heart is, like, so powerful.

Speaker B

Right, too.

Speaker B

And such a healing part of our body.

Speaker B

So I'd say practice.

Speaker B

I had another woman, the same woman actually gave me two tips, which is one, when I would.

Speaker B

I would, like, bang my foot a lot or something and, like, have.

Speaker B

Just because I was, like, in my head walking around and unaware, and, you know, you're hitting things, and she's like, put an anklet on with a bell on it on your foot to, like, stick send awareness to your body.

Speaker B

So I was, like, walking around with an anklet with a bell on it to, like, be present in my body, you know?

Speaker B

And she also.

Speaker A

If.

Speaker B

If you sit back and think, where is it?

Speaker B

You really disassociate a lot.

Speaker B

Mine was driving.

Speaker B

I had, like, kind of stuff come back from being in a car as a kid.

Speaker B

And, you know, I'd get in the car, and I just kind of.

Speaker B

Somehow that was like a disassociating.

Speaker B

And so it's like, okay, I'm in the car 10 and 2, you know, I'm driving, and I try to be very, very aware to, like, not do that pattern as much.

Speaker B

So maybe, like, understanding when you do it, why you do it, what can you do to bring awareness to your body, you know, and practice being in your heart.

Speaker B

Those were, like, really helpful things for me.

Speaker B

And it's like, you know, the big.

Speaker B

One of my pillars also is creating safety just in your life, in all parts of your life, right?

Speaker B

Because we're.

Speaker B

We're here to get out of fight or flight.

Speaker B

We're here to be just.

Speaker B

We need that feeling of safety.

Speaker B

And once you have it, then your imagination may come back.

Speaker B

You might find your purpose.

Speaker B

Like, it's so cool once you're, like, living the way we're meant to live, the wonderful things that come with that.

Speaker B

It's like.

Speaker B

Like, this work is hard.

Speaker B

You know, there is.

Speaker B

It's.

Speaker B

You're dressing stuff.

Speaker B

You're, you know, layer by layer, but once you get to that through it, it's so cool and fun and, you know, worth worth the process.

Speaker B

But it's not easy if you've been through some stuff to really face it.

Speaker B

For sure.

Speaker A

No, it's not at all.

Speaker A

And I love that tip.

Speaker A

I do Reiki.

Speaker A

So I re.

Speaker A

I use the kind of, like your imaginary line, and I do that positive light coming in.

Speaker A

But you're right.

Speaker A

I remember when I first started doing that, and people would say, just, you know, get into your heart, Feel, you know, you're right.

Speaker A

It might just be a millisecond, but I can remember picturing the light, and then it was like, you're the white.

Speaker A

I would picture this white light around my heart, and then it.

Speaker A

Gradually it would get bigger and bigger.

Speaker A

And then, you know, now I can, of course, pull in energy and happy feelings, and my bubble is huge, like, space for more stuff.

Speaker A

But it is.

Speaker A

It does take some practice.

Speaker A

And.

Speaker A

And you can't beat yourself up about it if it doesn't work the first time and don't give up.

Speaker A

Like, you even said, you know, you were one of those meditation is not for me kind of.

Speaker A

People look at you now.

Speaker A

You probably love every day.

Speaker B

Oh, I love it.

Speaker A

Love it.

Speaker B

I almost went too far to that side to the feminine.

Speaker B

And I was like, this is so cool.

Speaker B

Like, look, my body is getting bigger and softer.

Speaker B

And, like, because I was so far in the masculine and caring, the external, my body and having a perfect body and having everything look perfect, because I kind of grew up that way, like, pretend, you know.

Speaker B

And then I kind of swung the pendulum during healing to rebalance into, like, the feminine and meditate and slow down.

Speaker B

And I stopped running.

Speaker B

And now I'm kind of back to doing both and back to balance.

Speaker B

But it was really cool to live over here for a while.

Speaker B

And I'm like, this is so cool.

Speaker A

Like, not a care in the world.

Speaker B

Just gonna rest and relax and receive.

Speaker B

Yeah.

Speaker B

It was so different.

Speaker A

Yeah, absolutely.

Speaker A

So if people are starting to want to develop this foundation, okay.

Speaker A

So they don't have.

Speaker A

They probably have.

Speaker A

Coming out of that normal, chaotic household, you probably struggle with boundaries and you struggle with self esteem and you struggle with cortisol and weight issues and all of those things.

Speaker A

What are some beginning tips beside past the get into your heart one, because what.

Speaker A

Just to kind of, you know, maybe.

Speaker B

I like to look at your entire life.

Speaker B

Right.

Speaker B

So that's really what.

Speaker B

The 12 layers, if you want to call that address.

Speaker B

So, you know, we got into some of the basics, but, you know, movement, keeping things moving, your words and thoughts, like, being really careful about what you say.

Speaker B

You know, maybe instead of, I have this diagnosis, do you turn it to I'm healing, I'm healing.

Speaker B

You know, my body's healing.

Speaker B

I'm.

Speaker B

I'm on the way to healing it.

Speaker B

Like, really, it helps so much.

Speaker B

Rather than having ownership of that safety one, another one is choosing yourself and taking those courageous steps.

Speaker B

Like, really, I really notice when you signal to your body you're important, you know, so it's like gradually, it's all these steps you need to face, you know, maybe release what isn't serving you, finding purpose.

Speaker B

And then so I'm kind of step by step leading everyone to self, love and nature too.

Speaker B

Like, those are my really big things.

Speaker B

Like, I really think keys are, you know, aligning with nature.

Speaker B

I get out every morning for my first cup of coffee, is outside.

Speaker B

I don't turn on any lights.

Speaker B

I don't look at my phone.

Speaker B

I'm outside, my dog's outside.

Speaker B

He knows our pattern.

Speaker B

Then I feed the birds.

Speaker B

I ground with my bare feet.

Speaker B

You know, I'm doing that me time, but also in nature.

Speaker B

So it's kind of like a gradual, like, releasing, addressing your environment, your thoughts towards.

Speaker B

But like getting up to loving nature, honestly, it's like, so healing.

Speaker A

And baby.

Speaker A

And baby steps.

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker A

You know, yeah, you can go down these rabbit holes and they're like, okay, you have to, you know, fix your lymph system and you have to do this and you have to fix your circadian and you have to fix, fix, fix, fix, fix, fix.

Speaker A

And it's like, oh, my goodness.

Speaker A

So it's like, pick something small.

Speaker A

Pick something.

Speaker A

Like you said, the nature that was huge for me.

Speaker A

I had a stroke in January, and it was actually my neurologist that said, how quickly do you get outside in the morning?

Speaker A

And I said, well, I have a dog, so I get up and I do whatever.

Speaker A

And she said, don't do whatever.

Speaker A

Get up, walk your dog, get outside, like, within an hour of getting up, get that 10, 15 minutes of sunshine.

Speaker A

And, like, just one little thing.

Speaker A

And it might not be.

Speaker A

You might not have 10 minutes.

Speaker A

Get out there for two.

Speaker A

Doesn't matter.

Speaker B

Like, I was the girl that was taught to be afraid of the sun and so many things.

Speaker B

And, like, just getting some light on you, if.

Speaker B

If you don't want it in the middle of the day, then, yeah, get that morning light on you.

Speaker B

And it.

Speaker B

It all helps.

Speaker B

So it's.

Speaker B

It's my daily.

Speaker B

Every day, no matter what, I'm outside.

Speaker B

Because also it said, you know, the bird song helps signal safety in your body, right?

Speaker B

Like, birds only seeing if they're safe.

Speaker B

And so all of that grounding with your feet, all of that is helping the light.

Speaker B

So that's a.

Speaker B

That's a daily practice for me, is just reconnecting.

Speaker B

And so I don't care if I'm the lady in the neighborhood that's out in her pajamas in the yard.

Speaker B

Like, that's okay.

Speaker B

I know it's doing good things for me.

Speaker B

And maybe I'll inspire you.

Speaker B

So.

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker A

And just that.

Speaker A

Just that one thing is so much more than you would ever even think.

Speaker A

You know, it's your sleep pattern.

Speaker A

It's.

Speaker A

It's all of the.

Speaker A

It's all of the things.

Speaker A

It's raising your, you know, your serotonin and your happy feelings.

Speaker A

It's.

Speaker A

It's doing so much more.

Speaker A

So, like, that's a good place to start.

Speaker A

I also tell people one of the things that I used, and I don't know how much, you know, you said you wrote, so obviously you did.

Speaker A

You've written three books.

Speaker A

So what is journaling?

Speaker A

That is a huge one, too.

Speaker A

And again, baby steps.

Speaker A

If the first day you only write three sentences, that's fine.

Speaker B

And I even, like, I've now realized, because writing a book about your life is the.

Speaker B

It was so hard, but it was, like, so healing because you're releasing more.

Speaker B

You're, like, revisiting that, and you're like, oh, yeah, that happened too.

Speaker B

And so it's like getting it up and out of your body, honestly, with, like, the release.

Speaker B

So, you know, I've been told that I'm probably going to help people, like, inspire them to write, too.

Speaker B

Like, I found so much benefit even if you don't publish it.

Speaker B

Like, just.

Speaker B

Just the act of writing, it's just, like, what resonates with you to help get it up and out of you.

Speaker B

Is it tapping?

Speaker B

Is meditating?

Speaker B

Is it writing?

Speaker B

Is it, you know, dancing?

Speaker B

Like, how do you.

Speaker B

How do you.

Speaker B

Is it shadow work?

Speaker B

Is it.

Speaker B

How do you get it out?

Speaker B

That's key.

Speaker B

Yeah, I agree.

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker A

I mean, and there's so many modalities now.

Speaker A

And that's why I said people can get overwhelmed if they're listening and they could be like writing down, you know, you.

Speaker A

We've named seven or eight in just re.

Speaker A

Just recently.

Speaker A

But start and try different things.

Speaker A

Don't, you know, and try everything a couple times.

Speaker B

And I, like you said earlier, maybe when we were chatting before, but it was like I reference toolbox too.

Speaker B

Like my work is just to give you.

Speaker B

Here's a lot of ideas.

Speaker B

You can choose what works.

Speaker B

Maybe morning doesn't work for you to get out.

Speaker B

Maybe you want to add a healthy evening with some nature.

Speaker B

Maybe, you know, tapping is weird too.

Speaker B

But breath work resonates.

Speaker B

Like here's all these ideas in these various, you know, frameworks and.

Speaker B

But it's what I want people to do is what works for your lifestyle.

Speaker B

What is your inner knowing.

Speaker B

Trust that inner knowing.

Speaker B

It's.

Speaker B

It's guiding you, right?

Speaker B

Like if you get a little ping to get cleaner water, follow that ping.

Speaker B

If you get a ping to, you know, whatever it is, go on a walk, follow that.

Speaker B

So it's just like learning to.

Speaker B

Because ultimately we don't heal people.

Speaker B

You heal you, right?

Speaker B

So it's just like here's a toolbox, open it up, pick out the tools that you're.

Speaker B

You need right now and those are the right ones.

Speaker B

Like that.

Speaker B

I firmly believe that.

Speaker A

Yep.

Speaker A

You.

Speaker A

There's no A to Z for healing.

Speaker A

There's no, There's.

Speaker A

I wish there was.

Speaker A

Right?

Speaker A

Here's A to Z.

Speaker A

You know, just check, check, check, check, check.

Speaker A

But no, you're absolutely right.

Speaker A

And that's a very good point in that you are going to be the one that ultimately heals yourself.

Speaker A

Like, we can guide you, we can hold you accountable, we can be a partner to check in with.

Speaker A

We can do all that.

Speaker A

But ultimately it's coming from inside of you.

Speaker A

Your desire to get better.

Speaker A

You're wanting to feel better and you're desert knowing that you deserve the best life out there.

Speaker A

Huge.

Speaker B

That's so big.

Speaker B

Yeah, that just the worth and the value I had, I had no self worth in hindsight and creating that and loving that.

Speaker B

Like, I remember a discussion in college, people were like, oh, I like ketchup, I like mustard.

Speaker B

And I was thinking to myself, why does anyone think that anyone else cares what you like?

Speaker B

And it.

Speaker B

I realized that conversation later, I'm like, oh, they had self worth.

Speaker B

That's why I thought it wasn't important.

Speaker B

Like, why would you care if I like ketchup or mustard?

Speaker B

But it's self worth, it's self love.

Speaker B

Like, say what you want.

Speaker B

Like, it was such a dumb, silly conversation.

Speaker B

I don't want to say dumb.

Speaker B

But it, like it stuck with me.

Speaker B

I think because of that I didn't realize, I realized later, like they love themselves so much to be able to even say that in the discussion.

Speaker B

And I did it and I.

Speaker B

So creating that is so valuable.

Speaker A

That is, that is pretty powerful if you just think about that.

Speaker A

Because I'm sure people out there listening can put themselves in many, many, many different situations where they just sat there and just were little just because that's what they've been taught.

Speaker A

Little is safe.

Speaker A

And.

Speaker A

Yep.

Speaker A

And, and that's part of why I.

Speaker B

Like want to bring it back to the workplace too.

Speaker B

Because I was the girl that didn't negotiate for a higher salary, you know, during a job offer or, you know, I got a seat at the table with executives.

Speaker B

But was I really speaking up?

Speaker B

I was still like unsure, like I think, not aware of the value that I brought or how smart I was.

Speaker B

Right.

Speaker B

So taught to be quiet and taught to speak when spoken to or whatever.

Speaker B

It was like, all this healing will help you in life, in your career, right.

Speaker B

Financially, like having a high self worth and bringing that energy with you to the workplace.

Speaker B

Walking with your head higher, taking up more space.

Speaker B

Right.

Speaker B

Speaking.

Speaker A

Right.

Speaker B

Knowing you're smart, knowing you bring value.

Speaker B

All this work helps in all parts of your life, including, you know, your bank account.

Speaker B

Quite frankly.

Speaker B

I think that's what I. Oh, absolutely.

Speaker B

So yeah, it's.

Speaker B

It's wild.

Speaker A

Absolutely.

Speaker A

We just did.

Speaker A

I just did a whole talk on how people, children that grew up with trauma are just completely self sabotagers.

Speaker A

And I look at me and I mean, I turned down my biggest promotion of my life ever because I knew I was going to be brought up on stage in front of 600 people.

Speaker A

And I was like, oh, heck no, that's not, that's not happening.

Speaker A

It's not happening.

Speaker A

I'm not doing that because at that point I was like, I am not worthy.

Speaker A

Like, no.

Speaker A

And nobody needs to see this, this.

Speaker A

And now I'm just like, yeah, like now I don't care.

Speaker A

I'll talk in front of a thousand, two thousand, doesn't matter.

Speaker B

And I'm getting to that point, I'm like, I know this is part of my.

Speaker B

It was scary to be that big, but I.

Speaker B

That's part of my journey and that's part of why I'm doing this.

Speaker B

Like, I could have never talked to, you know, a few years ago, like four years ago, I would have sounded like a, you know, a baby goat, like, so scared.

Speaker B

So it's like, it's all.

Speaker B

Yeah, we're worthy of all this, so it's incredible.

Speaker B

And, you know, my first book was on healing the body, and this one that I'm releasing next month is applying the same framework to heal your bank account.

Speaker B

Right.

Speaker B

Because it's a lot of the same limiting beliefs and patterns and scarcity and chaos and lack and unworthiness, like, impacts what's happening with our financial life.

Speaker A

Oh, yeah.

Speaker B

That was like a fun journey because I lived it and, you know, so I kind of walk people through it with me in real time so you can.

Speaker B

You can read about my struggles.

Speaker B

But I was like, I'm done.

Speaker B

Just like, I was done with my pain, Pain in my body.

Speaker B

I was like, I'm done living this way financially.

Speaker B

I am so done.

Speaker B

Like, let's.

Speaker B

Let's hit it head on.

Speaker B

So it's just.

Speaker B

And I have heard, I'm sure you have too, that people that have had trauma kind of are successful later in life because I think we've had to, you know, heal.

Speaker B

And we lived small and limiting for a long time.

Speaker B

And then it's like, okay, now.

Speaker B

Now I'm gonna go be awesome.

Speaker A

Yeah, I'm gonna go right about.

Speaker A

I just met a lady the other day that wrote, just published her first book, and she's 87.

Speaker A

Amazing.

Speaker A

I was like, you go, girl.

Speaker A

And it, you know, and she became a bestseller at 87 years old.

Speaker A

I'm like, you go.

Speaker A

But it made me cry.

Speaker B

Awesome.

Speaker A

Yeah, it was so.

Speaker A

It was so cute.

Speaker A

But I mean, it's never too late.

Speaker A

But you're right, because we don't know.

Speaker A

Oh, and it frustrates me so bad.

Speaker A

Like, we're the ones that need to get up.

Speaker A

And that's hence this podcast.

Speaker A

Like, get up.

Speaker A

We want to get on the spot, mountaintop and scream.

Speaker A

Because you don't know what you don't know.

Speaker A

People are so conditioned to just think, I grew up in crappy this, so my life's going to be crappy because of X, Y and Z.

Speaker A

And only you determine that.

Speaker A

Only you do.

Speaker B

And it's like, yes, you're dealt that, but yes, it's time you can change it.

Speaker B

That's why I call it like rebuilding a healthy foundation.

Speaker B

Even if you weren't born with one, you can absolutely have one.

Speaker B

And then, you know, sky's limit.

Speaker B

Once you like let's.

Speaker B

You can do that, you can recreate the self worth.

Speaker B

You can recreate the good patterns and habits and words and you know, whatever it is I've been able to.

Speaker B

So I agree.

Speaker B

Like, I want to bring hope just like you.

Speaker B

Like there is way to change it.

Speaker B

And you know, it took me years, even after healing to get to a point.

Speaker B

This is my view.

Speaker B

I now see it all as happening for me.

Speaker B

Like I always connected with nature as a child because I, it turns out I think it was probably healing a girl that needed a lot of healing and I'd always be barefooted nature.

Speaker B

And so to come back in my life at, you know, my age now and like seeing that, oh, I always knew that nature aspect and here I can like help people now and it's just, just really neat to see that it maybe all these things were happening for me.

Speaker B

So then I can help other people too.

Speaker B

Right.

Speaker B

And exactly become my best self.

Speaker B

So.

Speaker B

Yeah.

Speaker A

Yeah, I love it.

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker A

That, that expression of start, you know, I, I use that in one of my big bigger speeches about it's looking at life is happening for you and not to you.

Speaker A

Because then you get out of the victim game.

Speaker A

You know, you start taking, you know, and just figure it out.

Speaker A

It happened for you for a reason.

Speaker A

Everything did.

Speaker A

And I know that some of those little cliches sayings come sometimes annoy people, but they're true, some of them.

Speaker A

So.

Speaker B

But, and it's, it's, it's a journey to get there.

Speaker B

You aren't just gonna wake up one day.

Speaker B

Oh, happen for me.

Speaker B

No, it's like a journey, but once you can see that, it's so beautiful.

Speaker A

Absolutely.

Speaker A

So if people want to work with you, Kristen, where can they reach you?

Speaker A

And I'm going to put all this in the show notes so you don't have to tell just a main one to get them.

Speaker A

And everything will be in the show notes.

Speaker A

Oh yeah.

Speaker B

My website is KristenRenae healing.com I am doing a rebrand because I've realized it's all about rebuilding.

Speaker B

But currently it's still KristenRenae healing.com so next year is the rebrand.

Speaker B

But yeah, thank you.

Speaker B

And I have free resources.

Speaker B

Like I've found, you know, mantras were really helpful or repeating things.

Speaker B

So I have like a, A free, you know, healing one to listen to, like talking about how nature is healing and things you can say.

Speaker B

So, you know, I want to.

Speaker B

I want this stuff to be accessible and affordable, too.

Speaker B

So.

Speaker A

Perfect.

Speaker A

Thank you.

Speaker A

Sounds good.

Speaker A

And I actually have a little series online.

Speaker A

It's called the Collective Wisdom Healing Series.

Speaker A

And it's just freebies and collections from all kinds of different coaches and mentors and gu and spiritual people and doctors and everything.

Speaker A

So I'd love to put some of those resources in there if you're okay with that.

Speaker A

We'll talk about that later.

Speaker B

Yeah, I also have one for, like, a meditation for the black sheep.

Speaker B

I was a black sheep.

Speaker B

Yeah.

Speaker B

I'm here to help you with black sheep.

Speaker B

That would be.

Speaker A

That would be fun.

Speaker A

So, yes, I will put those in my guide as well.

Speaker A

And so it was super fun having you.

Speaker A

But I want you to leave the listeners, they've gotten a lot of tips and tricks from you, but one more words of wisdom, piece of advice or something tangible to take with them today to make their life a little better.

Speaker B

Sure.

Speaker B

I mean, we talked about the body, but I'd say purpose is such a big part of.

Speaker B

I'll say healing, for lack of a better word.

Speaker B

But knowing what, like, gets you so excited and jumping out of bed.

Speaker B

You know, there might be steps to address before you find your purpose, but purpose is, you know, one of my pillars for a big reason.

Speaker B

Because I just think it's so incredible to know, like, what you're building or creating or what just, like, lights you up inside, even if it's not your job job, like, you know, do you paint on the weekends or what?

Speaker B

What drives you?

Speaker B

Like, I like to find out.

Speaker B

I love writing and talking about nature or helping, like, I to find my purpose, even at, you know, middle of life.

Speaker B

Like, it's the greatest joy ever.

Speaker B

And I do think once you're in your joy and happy and excited about something that is helping your body as well.

Speaker B

So I'll leave you with that.

Speaker A

Oh, no, I like that.

Speaker A

Good advice.

Speaker A

And thank you so much, Kristen, for coming on.

Speaker A

I appreciate it.

Speaker B

Thank you, everybody.

Speaker A

You're welcome.

Speaker A

And for everybody else out there listening, you heard her.

Speaker A

Find your why.

Speaker A

We all have a why and we all deserve to go out and find it and do what lights you up.

Speaker A

Because if it's not fun, it's not worth doing.

Speaker A

So we will see you all next week.
