Megan speaks with Rebecca about how her struggle with drugs and alcohol resulted in being able to guide people down the correct path leading them away from addiction to success.

Rebecca was born in El Paso Texas. She grew up in a border town. There were a lot of challenges in the area. She was one of 4 children. Her siblings all had different fathers. Her mother struggled with addiction, with drugs and alcohol. She had her identity with men and drugs. One day her mother left her and her siblings. Her younger sister was 6 months at the time. They were all living in their apartment for 3 days alone before their grandmother came to get them.Her mother did come to knowJesus and became clean when Rebecca was 9. She took the kids back and moved to Austin, TX. Even though her mother was clean she still had mental trauma she was still working through. As Rebecca got older she began to get into drugs, alcohol and gangs. She became a product of her environment. She became pregnant at 17. By the age of 19 she started to change her life and worked to change the path she was following.She started to go to a small local church where she met her husband. Through this time she met a lot of encouraging people and she believes this helped her to get her life together. They got married and she started her state job which led to her to be working for the Governor, George W. Bush, who soon became the president. When. He was nominated her and her family moved to DC and worked with the president. After the presidential terms they moved back to Texas where they stared their non-profit.
