The willingness to forgive leads the way

The willingness to forgive leads the way

Make 2020 your greatest year by releasing the past

It's a curious thing. Oh, how we like to punish ourselves. The inner voice strangling our outer voice's cry for mercy! There is no other creature on this planet that holds onto the past and the pain quite like a human. https://www.lifecoachadele.com

Have you ever noticed what a stressed animal kingdom dweller does? Watch them "shake off" their stress. Or, if you have ever reprimanded your companion pet, they shake it off! And I realize, this could be awkward at a cocktail party, but could this also release negative energy?

Let's think about it another way. I know you already know, so I don't have to remind you, how we lock offenders up, have them do their "time" and then they are released with an incredible amount of social bondage. Restricted income or ability to apply for work without past admission of guilt. And we know this, and yet we do the same thing, incarcerate ourselves; unable to forgive or forget our wrong doings.

Then there are the times, when we feel wronged. Someone else has said or did something that hurt in some way. And we hang onto that hurt, like a lifeline. I remember a time when I felt this way. Before I had done my work. For years, it burned like a hot coal in my gut. And it was painful. I suffered.

I realize now that my offender, never felt my pain. Possibly never knew that I felt wronged. I alone sat in my discomfort. Allowing an emotion to have power over myself. My true awakening to forgiveness came through the experience of forgiving. Once I forgave, my pain vanished. By releasing and forgiving I was able to let go of the story and move past this event in my life.

And then there are the things we can't forgive ourselves for. Regrets, bad manners, a joke that offended, whatever it might be, we feel bad about it. And we, for whatever reason, have trouble forgiving ourselves for. And yet, we can and do have control. It is within or power to release and remove the pain from our past. Forgiveness is a curious thing. Yet powerful for those who have explored forgiving.

The science behind; why forgiveness works; is in the physiology. Our mind makes physical matter from every thought and emotion we have. It's a very cool thing to watch. Yes, science has the ability now to see these micro particles being created. Negativity is a negatively charged particle. Negative seems to bond. Locking in the emotion connected to the event. Where positive charges have been proven to release. I call them sticky neuropeptides.

Once we consider the true nature of our discomfort is simply physiology, then we can muster the courage to let go. Here is an ancient Hawaiian forgiveness mantra.

Practice this mantra whenever you find yourself judging yourself or another. Expand your release to include any negative thought you have towards yourself or others.

"I love you, I'm sorry, forgive me, thank-you.

I once heard this story about this prison. It was the worst of the worse for both the incarcerated and those that worked there. Then a new warden came in. And he never left his office. For months, he would arrive in the morning and never leave his office until late in the evening.

Everyone wondered what he could be doing every day. But things at the prison began to change. There was less fighting, fewer incidence, and tensions diminished. Over time the prison became a model of success. When the warden was asked about his success, his response surprised many. He said he found his greatest success in forgiveness. The ancient Hawaiian practice of Ho'oponopono.

Each day he would go into his office and pull a single prisoner's file. As he read the file, he would repeat the following words; 'I love you, I'm sorry, forgive me, thank-you."

The simplicity and complexity of what we may or may not understand.

But I find myself aware of my transgressions. Thoughts within my head, a place of judgment, I chose to practice #Ho'oponopono.
