How to transform anger, frustration sadness and find peace

Japanese forest bathing is a growing practice of restoration

In November 2016 Haida Bolton became our provinces first certified therapy guide. And if you have spent an afternoon in the forest you probably already understand how numerous studies have documented the many benefits of forest therapy.

In fact forest environments have the ability to significantly reduce stress hormones.

She says her happiest memories have always been connected to nature.

And so it was natural for Haida to resonate with youth camps. Both as a youth and adult, Haida worked as a pillar inside of many of British Columbia's youth camps.

She then found herself in Africa where she started her own youth camps. She says even today, Africa and it's people resonate in her heart.

It was there in Tanzania she first met Jane Goodall. The second time on our local Salt Spring islands. She remains in awe of Jane's magical and saint like serene aura. After years of being a forest therapy guide, Haida also carries the magical calming energy of the forest!

And this is where she found peace once again while grieving the loss of her marriage, she spent time among the towering trees, cascading creeks and began to research the growing practice of shinrin yoku known more commonly as forest bathing.
