Letting go and finding freedom

In today's episode I talk about resentments and letting go. It's one of the things I have to actively practice in my own life. When we have a negative relationship with alcohol and use it to numb out feelings or drink at other people or situations out of our control we aren't really experts at letting go and moving forward. We are experts at sitting in it. The good news is that you don't have to and in today's episode I give a few tips on what letting go looks like for me and how I practice it.

  1. You can sit in the anger until you are all pruny and bitter, or you can learn to let go and ACCEPT that you are not in control of the situation.
  2. When we sit with a justified emotion it's dangerous because we will justify our reactions and our coping mechanisms because of the feeling and the excuse that it's justified so it's ok to over drink or eat etc etc.
  3. Finally accepting the powerlessness you have in any given situation will actually give you freedom and in return your power over your reactions.
